Events in Itaporã span a range of themes: theater, rock music, rodeo, Laço Comprido and sports.
Culture and local traditions
The play “A Paixão de Cristo” was staged at Estádio Chavinha in 2026 for the second year in a row. The performance was jointly organized by the Prefeitura de Itaporã and Paróquia São José.
The Metal Rock Itaporã festival features bands from different rock genres; the festival aims to represent the rock culture of Itaporã and the region. EXPOITA 2025 combined professional rodeo with live music shows and opened at Parque de Exposições Messias Cordeiro da Silva.
The 7th Encontro Carapé de Laço Comprido was held at Parque de Exposições Messias Cordeiro in Itaporã. The Festa do Laço is regarded in Itaporã as a tradition that has endured for decades. The time frames differ: the Encontro represents a specific named edition, while the Festa do Laço represents a long-standing tradition.
Sports and specific dates
In 2026, the 2nd Copa Itaporã de Judô was the third stage of the Circuito Estadual. It was held at Ginásio de Esportes de Itaporã, with delegations from across the state taking part. The Copa included 39 clubs and associations, and 620 entries were registered in the official categories.
The finals of the Liga Municipal de Futebol de Campo de Itaporã were also held at Estádio Chavinha in 2026. The 2025 edition of the Copa Craque do Amanhã aimed to strengthen youth football and promote soccer played on grass pitches. For sports trips, this offers two distinct scales: the statewide Circuit stage in Judô and the final of a municipal football league.
Feirita, the surrounding area and getting around
For the first Feirita—the Festa Julina edition—traditional foods, musical performances, quadrilles and games were announced for July 5 and 6, 2025, in the courtyard of Ginásio de Esportes in Itaporã. Cultural and culinary attractions were also planned; the venue was expected to be transformed into a large Arraial.
Nearby, Aldeia Jaguapiru lies between the municipalities of Dourados and Itaporã. During a celebration for Semana dos Povos Indígenas, the cultural diversity of the region’s Indigenous communities was highlighted there. Itaporã is part of the Grande Dourados tourist region in Mato Grosso do Sul.
For navigation, note the distinction between two road connections: Avenida Jose Chaves da Silva provides access to the section of MS-156 that connects Itaporã with Dourados. In Itaporã, MS-157 includes a section leading to the district of Santa Terezinha.
