Klösterle brings together trails with different routes, cultural history and seasonal activities at Sonnenkopf in Danöfen. The offerings range from the history of Wäldletobel to winter activities, giving you a variety of options to consider when planning your trip.

Trails, landscape and cultural history

The Wäldletobel Trail above Klösterle brings 800 years of history to life and offers views of the Natura 2000 site “Klostertaler Bergwälder.” If you’re looking for historical connections as well as a hike, this trail brings both together.

The Wäldletobel Gorge was made accessible via a footbridge in 1997. The history of access to the gorge is therefore also a tangible part of Klösterle’s landscape.

The area’s cultural history can also be explored in different ways. Klösterle’s Johanniter heritage is connected to a monastery building founded in 1218. The Historical Architecture Tour through Klösterle includes historic inns and other buildings closely linked to the history of transportation. The focus here is on the buildings and their connections to former transport routes.

Routes with different itineraries

The panoramic circular trail leads from Klösterle to Danöfen and back again. Its route is therefore a loop that returns to Klösterle. A circular hike in Klösterle also offers a detour to the Nenzigast Waterfall.

The section of the Way of St. James follows a different route: it starts in Klösterle am Arlberg, passes through the Klostertal valley and continues to Bludenz. When choosing a route, it makes a difference whether you’re considering a loop that returns to Klösterle or a trail section with Bludenz as its destination.

Seasonal activities at Sonnenkopf

The Sonnenkopf natural-snow ski area in Danöfen offers skiing, tobogganing, winter hiking and snowshoeing. It does not use artificial snowmaking. Operating conditions vary by season; check the current conditions before travelling.

Sonnenkopf also has raised bogs, scenic hiking trails and mountain biking routes. Bärenland offers a bear-themed playground, raft rides and bear caves. Alongside the landscape and trail experiences, there are also specific attractions at Bärenland, so you can enjoy the different offerings without having to treat them as a single activity.

Another seasonal and weather-dependent option is the 0.29 km toboggan run at the “Fuchslochbühel” children’s practice lift, just behind the church in Klösterle am Arlberg. It is currently closed. Check whether it is available before visiting.

Other practical options

The Alfenz Kneipp and Relaxation Garden in Klösterle offers a guided Kneipp experience in cool water. Check the schedule before your visit so you can include the activity in your plans.

A game-cooking course is scheduled for October 16 and 17, 2026, at the Wirtschaft Traube in Klösterle. You’ll prepare autumnal game dishes step by step under expert guidance. Check availability before your trip.

If you’re planning to travel by bus, the “Klösterle Schulhaus” stop is served by Landbus L720. Check the timetable before your trip. The Klostertal Tourist Office provides information and holiday tips for the entire Klostertal valley.
