A four-kilometre circular trail, a visit to a pond with a walk to reach it, and a 949-metre-high viewpoint offer different excursion options in Sankt Georgen am Walde. The “WaldReich” Nature Mystery Trail starts in the centre; the last 500 metres to Klausteich must be covered on foot. Hiking, water and local history can therefore be planned as separate themes for your stay.

WaldReich and the hilly landscape

The municipal area is very hilly and densely wooded, rising from the south. The “WaldReich” Nature Mystery Trail is a four-kilometre circular hiking route that starts at the Nature Pavilion in the centre of Sankt Georgen am Walde. With its fixed route length and central starting point, it offers a clearly defined option for a day of hiking. You can plan the circuit as a focus in its own right if you would like to discover the natural side of the town.

Klausteich and the leisure pond

Klausteich cannot be reached by car; you must cover the last 500 metres on foot. Today, most people swim on the southeastern shore. The water is completely clear and, at the same time, distinctly brown in colour. Its brown colour is caused by its high humic substance content. Clarity and visible colour describe two different properties of the water here.

There is a beach volleyball court at the leisure pond. The water is natural spring water with no chlorine or other chemicals. This gives the leisure pond a different, specific appeal from Klausteich, where the bathing shore, the appearance of the water and the walk to the pond are the main points of reference.

Burgstall and Lind'n Bräu

The 949-metre-high Burgstall in Sankt Georgen am Walde is known as a viewpoint. Historically, it served as a place of refuge during the Hussite incursions and the invasions by French troops. At Burgstall, therefore, the landscape and history go hand in hand: it is notable both as a viewpoint and for its former role as a place of protection.

Lind'n Bräu brewery also offers a glimpse into local beer culture. You can taste beers on site by prior arrangement. Brewery tours are available for small groups and should be arranged in advance. The regular range includes Pilsner and Märzen. The beer is brewed by hand, is a pure natural product, and is neither pasteurised nor filtered.

Seasonal winter activities

The Schorschi ski lift has a modern family lift and a children’s lift. A wide range of ski courses is also available. Lift operations and course availability are seasonal. If you are planning a winter trip, check the current offers in advance so you can factor these seasonal activities into your travel plans.

Plan your journey
