Twelve stops, each featuring a well-known folk song, make the Road of Songs a clearly defined route along the Achensee lakeside promenade. The wheelchair-accessible route is about two kilometres long and runs between the Buchau and Seespitz boat landing stages. If you are planning a walk as part of your day, you can use the endpoints and approximate length as a guide; the songs also give the route its own theme.

Notburga, Chapels and Regional History

The veneration of Saint Notburga shapes a range of cultural traditions and places of remembrance. In the pilgrimage church in Eben, her reliquary stands on the high altar; the church is a destination for many pilgrims. The Notburga Museum is dedicated to Tyrol’s only saint. Notburga Sunday is celebrated in her honour every year on the second Sunday in September. If you would like to plan your trip around this tradition, this recurring date offers a specific guide when choosing your travel dates.

Two chapel histories also offer their own historical highlights: the Notburga Chapel replaced an older Notburga wayside shrine in 2003. The Häuserer Bichl Chapel was consecrated in May 1949; a venerated image of Mary serves as its altarpiece. The first chapel is notable for the shrine it replaced, while the second is distinguished by its consecration and the image of Mary.

The Achensee Museum and Adventure World is a museum village spread across eight buildings. It presents local customs, the way of life of the Achental population, and the origins of clubs and institutions. The collection includes historic tractors and the stern of the 120-year-old Achensee steamboat, with its functioning engine.

In Pertisau, the Fischergut is now one of the oldest farmhouses. During the summer months, concerts by the Eben Federal Brass Band are held there; the Karwendel March and the Achensee Run are also staged at the Fischergut. The concerts are seasonal. If you are travelling for a concert or race, check the specific dates before setting your travel dates.

Trails and Landscape

The trail to the Astenau Alpe starts at a car park above the Haus St. Notburga residential and care centre in Eben. The path winds through a light pine forest to the Astenau Alpe, where there are views of the Inn Valley. The route therefore combines a named starting point with a described course and a clearly defined destination.

The Rofan area offers numerous hiking routes, as well as via ferratas and climbing gardens for beginners and experienced climbers. Check route conditions before climbing. The Adlerhorst is a 360° viewing platform at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, modelled on an eagle’s nest: its height, panoramic views and design give this viewpoint its distinctive character.

The Dalfaz Waterfall has a drop of around 60 metres. In Maurach, a route runs alongside the waterfall and ends on the hiking trail to the Dalfaz Alm. Check conditions before setting out.

The route is also clearly described for cycling plans: the Achensee Cycle Path runs flat along the lake to Maurach, then continues into the district of Eben and descends from there to Wiesing. The route profile can therefore be divided into sections: flat along the lake, then onward through Eben, and finally downhill towards Wiesing.
