You can plan your time in Pruggern around routes that take very different amounts of time: the easy Pruggern-Moosheim Loop P4 is listed as 5.7 kilometres and 1 hour 30 minutes, while the hike to Pleschnitzzinken is described as a half-day tour. There is also a trail with mountain views and a range of activities at Galsterberg.
An Easy Loop with Mountain Views
The Pruggern-Moosheim Loop P4 runs from Pruggern to Moosheim. Along the way, the Enns flows on your right; flowering fields and views of Stoderzinken and Kammspitze are part of the tour. Rated easy, at 5.7 kilometres and a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes, it is a clearly defined option. Compared with the hike to Pleschnitzzinken, which is described as a half-day tour, P4 is the shorter option with a specified duration.
Hike to Pleschnitzzinken
The hike to Pleschnitzzinken can be reached from Pruggern via Bottinghaus and is described as a half-day tour. The Pleschnitzzinken trail passes through old high forest with strikingly gnarled spruces, larches and Swiss pines before reaching the tree line. This tour therefore differs from P4 not only in its time frame, but also in the forest landscape described. On the way back, the route passes Galsterbergeralm, a place to stop for refreshments. As its opening hours may vary by season, check in advance whether it will be open on your visit date.
Mountain Views on the Tree Horoscope Trail
The Tree Horoscope Trail offers views of Stoderzinken, Kamm and Grimming. The two trails share a view of Stoderzinken: Kammspitze is also mentioned for P4, while Kamm and Grimming are included for the Tree Horoscope Trail. You can therefore also distinguish between the tours by the mountain views mentioned in their descriptions.
More Activities at Galsterberg
The Galsterberg ski area has four cable cars and lifts, with 15 kilometres of pistes. The facilities also include the Gallisches Kinderland. The natural toboggan run at Galsterberg is 5 kilometres long and operates seasonally. When choosing between the ski area and the toboggan run, consider both the different activities on offer and the toboggan run’s seasonal operation.
Ski Bus and Regional Regal
The ski bus runs from Michaelerberg-Pruggern village square to the Galsterberg valley station. The village square is just 50 metres from the train station. If you plan to take the ski bus, check the current timetable, as departure times may change.
The Regional Regal is located right next to the train station. It offers a wide selection of regional products that you can take with you around the clock. As availability may change, check what is on offer before your visit.
