The valley station of the Silver Jet gondola is in Gleiming; the ride to the Reiteralm in the Schladming-Dachstein ski area takes about five minutes. This makes the gondola ride a tangible point of reference for a winter trip to the Reiteralm; in summer, several trails start right in Gleiming. Your choice therefore depends first on the season and then on which route interests you. Before a winter trip, check current lift operations and snow and trail conditions.
At the valley station
The Silver Jet valley station has ski rental, a ski school, a lounge and restaurants. If you plan to use these services during your stay, check with the operator in advance to confirm they are currently available. This lets you factor the services at the valley station into your plans without confusing them with the trails through Gleiming.
Summer trails with different routes
The Ennsrunde Gleiming–Mandling route leads from Gleiming through Au and Warterdorf, then continues through sections of forest and meadows to Mandling. On the return, the route follows the Enns through floodplain woodland back to Gleiming. It therefore connects several named localities with different types of scenery.
The Dörferrunde route passes through Gleiming, Pichl, Grubdörfl, Warterdorf and Audorf, and can also be started in Gleiming. The route offers a clear way to choose between these two trails: the key points on the Ennsrunde are Mandling and the return route near the Enns, while the Dörferrunde is defined by the sequence of villages it passes through.
The Mandling-Steig is a fairly easy summer hike that starts in Gleiming and follows the Enns and the Mandlingbach stream. The Panorama Runde | 305 also passes through Gleiming and offers panoramic views of the Schladminger Tauern and the Dachstein. These trails therefore differ in whether the route follows waterways or focuses on views of the named mountain landscapes.
Winter hiking on the Reiteralm
The winter hike starts on the Reiteralm after the ride up from Gleiming on the Silver Jet. It leads via Pichl back to Gleiming. The approximately five minutes refers to the gondola ride, not the entire hike; plan for the two sections separately. Lift operations, snow and trail conditions vary by season. Check current conditions before your trip.
Getting there and finding your way
Postbus route 900 connects Gleiming with the neighboring villages. Gleiming can also be reached by Postbus from Schladming. Check the current timetable before travelling. A ski bus goes to the valley station; check the timetable for this seasonal service too. There is ample parking at the valley station. When planning your journey, you can therefore distinguish between travelling to the village and continuing on to the gondola station.
