Lebring combines hiking and cultural history with golf, a pump track and cycling. When planning your stay, it is worth distinguishing between the different scales of the activities: an individual hike, a cultural trail spanning several municipalities and various options for physical activity each offer a different focus for your stay.

Hiking between Teufelsgraben and the Cultural Trail

The section of the Cultural Hiking Trail in Lebring-St. Margarethen includes the Teufelsgraben Loop. It is about 10 km long, and takes approximately three hours to walk. You can take this timeframe into account when planning your day, without confusing the loop with the longer Cultural Hiking Trail.

The Cultural Hiking Trail connects four Hengist municipalities via a total of 42 stations. It explains geological, archaeological, historical and cultural-historical features. This gives you a choice between two distinct options: an individual loop with an approximate walking time, or a thematically broader trail through several municipalities.

A notable historical landmark at Teufelsgraben is the Landgericht Cross. This imposing wayside shrine still stands amid gravel pits. It marked the northern edge of the small judicial district that the Archbishop of Salzburg granted in 1458 around Schloss Seggau and the market town of Leibnitz. The name Teufelsgraben is therefore associated not only with a hike, but also with a specific historical boundary marker.

Golf and Pump Track

The internationally renowned 36-hole GC Gut Murstätten golf course is located in Lebring, in an idyllic and peaceful floodplain forest. If golf is to be part of your stay, check whether the course is open before you arrive.

The Lebring Pump Track offers another way to improve your riding skills. Anything with wheels can be ridden there, and people of all ages are welcome. The pump track is free for bikers to use during opening hours. Check the operating details before your visit.

The golf course and pump track offer different experiences: one features 36 holes in a floodplain forest, while the other focuses on riding wheeled equipment and improving your riding skills. You can choose the focus of your stay according to which activity interests you.

Cycling, Getting There and Cultural Events

The Mur Cycle Path passes directly through Lebring and continues to Bad Radkersburg, near the Slovenian border. This regional cycling connection is another option to consider when planning your stay. It has a different geographical focus from locally named attractions such as the golf course and pump track.

The hiking route over Wildoner Berg starts at Lebring railway station. The station is accessible via S-Bahn S1, and RegioBus 600 also runs to the Lebring Thallerweg stop. Check timetables and stops before travelling if you plan to use these connections.

The traditional Gady Market is part of the cultural offering of the market town of Lebring-St. Margarethen. The market town also regularly hosts concerts, readings and theatre performances. Dates and programmes may change, so check in advance if you would like to plan your stay around an event.
