Two circular trails, each just over four kilometres long, offer different experiences in Hollabrunn. The Forest Adventure Trail leads to interactive and multisensory stations; the Cellar Cat Trail introduces visitors to the world of the cellar lanes and how they have developed. When planning, you can therefore consider not only the length but also the trails’ themes.
Cellar Lane Trails and Adventure Stations
The Hollabrunn Forest Adventure Trail is a circular route about 4.4 km long. Its interactive and multisensory stations are aimed at schoolchildren of different age groups and families. The 4.15 km-long Cellar Cat Trail is a circular route through the Sitzendorf cellar lane in Hollabrunn and the surrounding natural area. Its 24 stations explore the world of the cellar lanes and their development in an urban setting. The two trails are similar in length but differ in their subject matter.
Other attractions also focus on wine cellars and winemaking. The Cellar Lane Experience World has four adventure stations set up in cellars. You can enter with a chip card, issued at check-in in exchange for a €5 deposit. At Catti’s Cellar, children can try out three traditional winemaking techniques. Each of these attractions has its own focus, so they should not be confused with the stations on the Cellar Cat Trail.
City History, Church and Museum
The Old Court Mill is among the city’s oldest and most interesting buildings and is used as a versatile event venue. Hollabrunn Parish Church was built in the 12th century and features many Neo-Gothic elements. Both places offer different starting points for a culture-focused stay: the Court Mill as an event venue, and the church with its long architectural history and design.
A permanent exhibition at the Hollabrunn City Museum describes the city’s political, ecclesiastical, economic, social and cultural development. The museum’s Habaner collection also comprises 33 ceramics from workshops and independent craftspeople of the 17th and early 18th centuries, mainly from the western Slovak region. While the permanent exhibition offers a broad perspective on the city’s development, the collection provides a specific insight into a particular period, how the ceramics were made and where they came from.
Koliskowarte Lookout Tower and Views
The Koliskowarte is an observation tower in Hollabrunn Forest. From the starting point by the Hubertus monument, it is an easy walk of about 30 minutes along one of two Hollabrunn hiking trails. From the tower, the unobstructed panoramic view extends as far as Schneeberg and Ötscher. This makes it a distinct excursion destination alongside the themed stations on the circular trails.
Walking times are approximate, and trail conditions can also affect access. Check the current trail conditions before setting out. This lets you factor the Koliskowarte into your plans without treating the approximate walking time as a guarantee.
