Dröschitz offers several specific points of interest for a trip: the church festival and the community effort involved in preparing for it, religious roadside monuments with clearly identified locations and imagery, and the Velden–Forstsee cycling route, which passes through the village. These themes are clearly distinct: the church festival represents local festive tradition, the wayside cross and column shrine offer architectural and religious details, and the cycling route allows for flexible planning on two wheels. Dröschitz can thus be explored through various clearly distinct aspects.
Church festival and cultural connections
A report from 2026 describes how the village community prepares for the Dröschitz church festival each year with great commitment. After Mass, visitors chatted outside the church for a while. On Sunday, 30 August 2026, a church festival was held in Dröschitz in honour of Saint Giles.
Actress Heidelinde Weis lived in Dröschitz for many years and was born there. A memorial concert by the Velden Music Society honoured her at the church festival in September 2024. The years refer to different occasions: 2026 is the year of the specific church festival, while the concert was part of the 2024 festivities.
Wayside cross and column shrine
The wayside cross in Dröschitz stands at the intersection of Köstenberger Straße and Dröschitzer Weg; its roof is covered with wooden shingles. Around the year 2000, it was cut down and then re-erected. Its location, roofing material and re-erection provide different points of reference: a specific location, an architectural feature and a historical event.
The niches of the column shrine in Dröschitz depict four figures, arranged according to the cardinal directions: an angel is shown in the east, Christ as the Risen One in the south, Mary with Child in the west, and Saint Florian in the north. The directions help identify each figure. The municipality of Velden am Wörthersee restored the column shrine in 1995.
The difference in emphasis is clear when comparing the two: the wayside cross is notable for its location, shingle roof and historical re-erection; the shrine for its four religious figures and their orientation.
Cycling route and regional hiking trail
The Velden–Forstsee cycling route passes through Dröschitz and is a circular route that can be started at any point. For planning, both its route through the village and the flexible starting point are relevant.
In the wider region around Dröschitz, the Wörthersee circular hiking trail can be combined flexibly with boat, bus or train travel. One stage runs from Velden to Reifnitz; the return to Velden is by boat. This means two different types of tour can be considered: the cycling route that passes through Dröschitz and offers a flexible starting point, and a regional hiking stage with a described return journey by boat.
Ice sports facilities in Dröschitz
Local infrastructure also includes an ice-stock rink. A municipal description from 2018 places an artificial ice rink in the centre of the village, north of the Stöffele inn. Before visiting, check whether it is currently in operation.
