Napplach has clear landmarks for a range of discoveries. In Napplach, a small road branches south from the Möll into the narrow Teuchltal valley. Marienkapelle and a named route to it give the village a clear cultural theme; paths along the Möll and on nearby Danielsberg offer different perspectives. In addition, two mountain huts in the Kreuzeck Group can be compared by elevation and category. These local and route connections help you distinguish the different attractions when planning your trip.
Teuchltal and River Connections
In Napplach, a small road branches south from the Möll into the narrow Teuchltal valley. A hiking route leads through riparian forests along the Möll to the point where the Teuchlbach flows into it. The route thus ends at a specifically named point by the water and offers a different perspective from the road branching into the valley.
The fishing areas also describe specific stretches of river. The area on the Möll extends for 18 km and ends near Napplach, about 300 steps before the Teuchlbach flows into it. The Teuchlbach area begins where it flows into the Möll and extends 4 km upstream. The information distinguishes the stretch on the Möll from the upstream area on the Teuchlbach. If fishing is part of your plans, check the applicable rules and operating conditions in advance, as they may change.
Marienkapelle and GehSpräche
Marienkapelle Napplach was built between 1847 and 1855 and is also known as Rupbauerkapelle. On the “GehSpräche” hike, it is a destination: the route starts at the parish church of St. Jakob in Kolbnitz and continues to the chapel in Napplach. The trail thus links a starting point in Kolbnitz with a cultural destination in Napplach. The chapel can be recognized by either name.
Danielsberg and the Kreuzeck Group
Danielsberg lies in the area around Napplach. It is a distinctive 966 m-high peak in the lower Möll Valley. Stone tools about 6,000 years old have been found on the mountain. Two educational trails climb through picturesque high forests; clearings offer viewpoints and places to rest. Unlike the route along the Möll, the focus here is on the ascent and the high forests. As trail conditions can change, check the current conditions on the educational trails before setting out.
Feldner-Hütte and Salzkofel-Hütte are both in the Kreuzeck Group and are Category I mountain huts. Feldner-Hütte is at an elevation of 2,182 m, while Salzkofel-Hütte is at 1,987 m. This makes Feldner-Hütte 195 m higher; both huts are in the same mountain range and category. The elevation figures offer a direct comparison of the two named huts.
