The “MEX-Line I” flow trail ends at the valley station in Tröpolach; the Tröpolacher Alm offers a different focus with its hiking trail starting points. There is also the parish church, with its long building history, and the Aqua Trail at Nassfeld, a water-themed route. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can plan your stay around whether cycling, hiking, water or culture is your main focus.
Mountain biking, cable car and water trail
The more than four-kilometre mountain bike flow trail “MEX-Line I” starts at Gmanberg, near the mountain station of the first section of the Millennium-Express gondola lift, at an altitude of 1,044 metres. It ends at the valley station at 614 metres in Tröpolach and is suitable for beginners. The trail therefore runs downhill from the mountain to the village.
The Millennium-Express, which carries passengers from Tröpolach to Nassfeld, is separate from the trail. The lift operates seasonally; if you plan to use it, check the operating times for your chosen date. The flow trail is a descent to the village, while the Express is a seasonal connection from the village up to Nassfeld—two different directions to bear in mind when planning your day.
The Felsenlabyrinth and Flying Fox area has 14 courses for visitors aged five and over. Operating information is seasonal, so check the times for your travel dates before visiting.
The Aqua Trail at Nassfeld is a circular hiking route along a water-themed trail. Along the way, there are individual water-play stations and comfortable places to rest; the route also offers impressive panoramic views. The entire Aqua Trail is accessible with a stroller. This route can therefore be planned around different features from the mountain bike trail: here, the focus is on the circular route, water stations and places to rest.
Hikes and refreshments at the Tröpolacher Alm
The Tröpolacher Alm lies at an altitude of 1,668 metres and is the starting point for numerous hikes. From there, you can enjoy views across the Gailtal valley. Seasonal hot dishes are served at the alpine pasture, including Frigga, bacon with egg, goulash soup and Kaiserschmarrn.
At the Tröpolacher Alm, a guided tour of the cheese dairy and stable is available by prior arrangement. The offer is seasonal. If you would like to plan a tour, register in advance and check whether one is available on your chosen date.
Parish church and church festival
Tröpolach Parish Church is a former choir-tower church dating from the 13th century, which was structurally altered in the Late Gothic and Baroque periods. It has been recorded as a parish since 1342. Inside, the vault is spanned by Late Gothic net rib vaulting with heraldic bosses. The two dates refer to different aspects: the 13th century describes the building’s history, while 1342 refers to its status as a parish.
The Tröpolach church festival is scheduled for 18 October 2026; it is advisable to check the programme before visiting. An account from 2014 describes that year’s festival as a three-day event: it began on Sunday with a service in the Catholic church and ended on Tuesday with Häfnschlagen.
