At the intersection of Avenida Presidente Perón and Bernabé Aráoz, a ceramic ensemble honors General Manuel Belgrano. It was donated by the Instituto Nacional Belgraniano de Yerba Buena. Places like these offer insight into the city’s cultural and historical themes; parks and natural destinations in Yerba Buena Department provide a different focus.

Culture and Remembrance in Yerba Buena

Another place of remembrance is the Paseo at Avenida Presidente Perón and Calle Salta. It honors the veterans and fallen of the Malvinas War and pays particular tribute to 24 people from Tucumán who lost their lives in the conflict. The Paseo includes monuments to the combatants, the air force, and the ARA General Belgrano.

Plaza Luis F. Nougués and the church opposite form a landmark ensemble in the historic city center. The plaza is a traditional meeting place for residents and visitors. The temple’s history dates back to 1892, when residents of Yerba Buena set in motion the construction of a church for the community. In 1916, the cornerstone of the present-day temple was laid opposite the plaza.

The Circuito Religioso invites visitors to explore churches, parishes, and shrines connected to the history and identity of Yerba Buena. The City Tour is a walking route to the main sights, bringing together history, culture, and nature. For cultural events, there is also the Espacio Cultural y Sala Teatral Independiente at Av. Aconquija 1978. It has five halls and is the headquarters of the FundaciĂłn.

Walks, Nature, and Activities

Parque Percy Hill combines well-maintained paths with opportunities to explore the local flora and fauna. Specialized guides accompany visitors on these explorations; the park is also suitable for picnics and birdwatching. Its natural environment is home to more than 80 bird species and over 20 forest species. This makes the park a good choice if you want to complement your stay in town with some time outdoors.

Raki caters to children, young people, and adults, offering high-ropes courses, zip lines, and a climbing wall amid the Yungas nature of Tucumán. Its range of activities makes it another way to add some physical activity to your stay. Raki is located at Av. Aconquija 3200, at the foot of Cerro San Javier and 300 meters from the Rotonda del Corte.

Getting to Raki

Bus line 118 runs from the city center to the Rotonda de Yerba Buena; from there, it is a three-minute walk in the direction of San Javier. Since transit details can change, check the route locally before setting out. Reservations for Raki can be made through its website, social media, or WhatsApp.

Natural Destinations in Yerba Buena Department

The Reserva Experimental Horco Molle is not in the city of Yerba Buena, but in Horco Molle in Yerba Buena Department, at the foot of the Sierra de San Javier. It is located in a protected area with foothill Yungas forest and is open to the public year-round. An interpretive walk takes visitors through the flora and fauna of the Tucumán foothills.

The Jardín Botánico Horco Molle is also in Horco Molle in Yerba Buena Department, not in the city of Yerba Buena. It covers 89 hectares and is located in the Yungas, also known as the Selva Tucumano-boliviana. Visitors can explore its network of trails accompanied by trained guides. The Sendero Puerta del Cielo also runs through Yerba Buena Department: this two-kilometer trail leads from Horco Molle to Calle 12 in San Javier and is rated low to moderate in difficulty.

When looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether your focus is on the cultural sites and activities in Yerba Buena or whether you also want to include destinations in the department.
