Funes can be explored through a range of themes: local history and aviation sit alongside music, cycling culture and stargazing. The particular focus you choose is a good starting point for planning your trip. Would you rather learn about the town’s development, discover aviation history, or find out more about its cultural and leisure offerings? These different themes give Funes a varied character, without any single itinerary having to define your stay.
Culture Between Local History, Aviation and the Stars
The Museo Ferroviario Juan Murray tells the story of Funes’s origins and development. The Museo Pedagógico del Liceo Aeronáutico Militar focuses on a different subject: it explores the development of aviation, its pioneers and major achievements, as well as the development of aerospace technology in Argentina. The two museums therefore offer distinct perspectives: the history of the town in one, and aviation and technology history with an Argentine focus in the other.
Cycling culture is another experience Funes invites visitors to discover. The Observatorio AstronĂłmico is associated with evenings of stargazing. Local history, technology, cycling culture and views of the night sky each offer a different way to get to know the town. When choosing cultural activities for your trip, you can follow your own interests rather than treating these themes as a single itinerary.
Music and Events in Funes
Funes Vibra is a traditional, recurring music festival. For its February 2024 edition, Calle HipĂłlito Yrigoyen was turned into a pedestrian zone for the event; admission was free, and live music was part of the programme. An event at Paseo de la EstaciĂłn took a different approach from Funes Vibra, with a shopping promenade set up by merchants from Callejuela Bohemia.
Children’s shows were also held at the traditional Paseo de la Estación. Revivals and Mácula performed live music there. So when choosing an event, it’s not just the music that matters, but also the kind of programme on offer.
Leisure Spots and Family Activities
Mercado Don Bosco is a cultural, social and gastronomic project in Funes. A family event focused on environmental education was planned there for February 2025, with games, workshops and a film. This programme differed from the music events, combining a shared experience with an environmental education theme.
For March 2025, Punto Funes was scheduled to host the Copa 150 Años Funes, a leg of the Circuito Argentino de Vóley de Playa. The Copa was set to include men’s, women’s and mixed categories. Plaza San José was completely renovated and fitted with new play equipment. The Skatepark Municipal is described as a facility specifically equipped for safe, educational skateboarding. A Taller de Skate Municipal announced in July 2024 was aimed at children over eight years old.
During the 2026 winter holidays, the Expreso Funesito offered a free family ride around the city on Saturday, July 4, with a children’s show. It departed from the Museo Juan Murray; participation was limited by time slot. This specific activity combined a ride with an entertainment programme, but differed in timing and format from the festivals and leisure spots mentioned above.
