San Antonio Oeste brings together several travel interests: fine sandy beaches, tide watching along the waterfront promenade, water sports and a museum focused on natural sciences and anthropology. When planning your trip, you can first decide whether the coast, the marine protected area or local history should be the main focus. The city offers different ways to explore each of these interests.

Coast, Tides and Water Sports

San Antonio Oeste has fine sandy beaches. You can stroll along the waterfront promenade and watch the tides; the fishing pier is also worth exploring. The coastal experience therefore ranges from a waterside walk and tide watching to a visit to a distinctive fishing landmark. If you are most interested in experiencing the waterfront, you can make these activities separate focuses of your trip.

Windsurfing, canoeing, water skiing and freediving are practiced in San Antonio Oeste. These water sports offer a different kind of activity from strolling along the promenade or exploring the fishing pier. When planning your trip, you can weigh up whether you would rather spend your time on activities on the water or exploring places along the waterfront. The sports listed offer different options; they should not be understood as a single package.

Protected Area and Nature

ANP Bahía San Antonio is a marine coastal protected area associated with San Antonio Oeste. Since August 1993, it has been part of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network. The protected area’s wildlife includes dolphins and sea lions. This combination of a protected area, coastline and wildlife offers a distinct focus alongside the city’s beaches and water sports.

Punta Verde also offers a distinct focus for a visit: it is considered a traditional fishing spot and includes a restored beach area equipped for visitors. As visitor facilities can change, check the area’s current condition before your visit.

Museum, Railway District and Festival History

The Jacobacci Museum is a natural science and anthropology museum on the Patagonian coast. Its three rooms cover the history of the house, its residents and the railway. In the Department of San Antonio, the Jacobacci Museum is housed in the historic home where engineer Guido Jacobacci lived. A museum visit therefore connects these topics with the history of the building.

The old railway district of San Antonio Oeste can also be visited. It complements the museum with another place connected to railway history: the railway is one of the topics covered in the museum’s three rooms, while the district itself is a place to visit. If you are interested in the town’s development, you can consider both cultural attractions when choosing your activities.

The history of local festivals is also part of San Antonio Oeste. The Fiesta Provincial de la Marea began in the 1990s under the name «Fiesta de la Ría» and was later added to the provincial festival calendar. This describes the festival’s history; it is not information about a current event date.
