In Rancul, the Fiesta Nacional del Hachero takes place every year in December. Its history began in the 1970s, at the initiative of a group of young people associated with Club Jorge Newbery.
Festivals and cultural sites
A 2018 edition of the Fiesta Provincial del Hachero held in Rancul lasted three days and featured gaucho competitions and musical performances. This means the festival tradition has both a December date cited as an annual event and a dated example of a multi-day program.
The Mamüll Mapú cultural tourism center displays antique furniture and items from the general stores that once existed in Rancul. The combination of furniture and store items draws attention to the town’s former commercial life. Mamüll Mapú is also a complex that honors Indigenous peoples and aims to strengthen the region’s cultural identity.
The El Tentador complex also has a connection to the Indigenous peoples of the region: two sculptures, each about six meters tall, were inaugurated there in June 2026 in their honor. Another historical landmark is Parroquia San José, inaugurated on September 14, 1941. In November 2023, some of Alberto Cortéz’s personal belongings were displayed at the Casa de la Historia y la Cultura del Bicentenario.
Regional cuisine and getting around
El Tentador is a resto bar with a historic general store. The complex is located on National Route 188, a few meters from the entrance to Rancul. A tourist corridor route in Rancul included a visit to Estancia Las Margaritas, where RCC beer is produced.
In 2020, visitors could buy regional handicrafts and try typical dishes at Parador Mamüll Mapú. If you would like to include this offering in your plans, check whether it is currently available before visiting. This makes clear the time frame of the option described, without reducing Rancul’s culinary offerings to a single place.
CaleufĂş in the Rancul destination
CaleufĂş is also part of the Rancul destination. It is home to Paseo del Lago, a recreational and tourism park that opened on November 15, 2015. The grounds include an artificial lagoon, an island with a viewing tower, a waterfall, paths, and green spaces. Grills, small covered seating areas, and tables add to the park. In 2025, the town council declared Paseo del Lago a site of public interest and tourist importance.
The park also preserves connections to the town’s railway history: corrugated-metal sheds and a jetty are railway remnants. CaleufĂş is also home to the MarĂa Auxiliadora Chapel, next to Plazoleta de la EstaciĂłn on former railway land. The former railway station is designated as the Museo Municipal Luis Fiandrino. The Museo del Deporte Motor opened in 2022 as part of Caleufú’s 111th anniversary celebrations. A nighttime skywatching event with a telescope took place at Paseo del Lago in 2016.
