Explore Campana through its cultural heritage and connection to the river: Barrio Inglés is protected, while museums and squares keep different aspects of the city’s history alive. The municipal program “Campana desde el río” also offers a perspective on the island landscape along the Paraná.

Cultural Heritage and City History

Plaza Eduardo Costa is Campana’s main square and is home to historic monuments and sculptures. Casa de los hermanos Costa includes the ruins of the villa on the site where Campana originated. The two places offer different connections to the city’s history: one features monuments and sculptures in a public space, while the other is the villa associated with Campana’s origins.

Barrio Inglés was declared a protected area of monumental and historic heritage. Another perspective on Campana’s architectural history is offered by Barrio de los Ingleses, also known as “Barrio del Frigorífico.” It grew from chalets built between 1902 and 1907 as homes for employees and executives of the Frigorífico. The construction period and the intended residents make clear that the neighborhood’s history is also a history of living conditions at the time.

Squares, Museums, and Local Traditions

Campana’s urban attractions include Plazoleta del Tango. Pucará is located in Parque Urbano. Those interested in railway history can visit the Museo Ferroviario “Víctor Luis Capusso” at Paseo Costanero: it has more than 200 railway-related exhibits. The Museo del Automóvil “Manuel Iglesias” offers a different focus. Its permanent exhibition features cars from every era, and the museum invites schools to arrange visits for their students.

Local culinary tradition is also part of the city’s identity. According to local tradition, the cut of meat known as asado de tira originated in Campana many years ago. The Fiesta del Primer Automóvil Argentina is a traditional Campana celebration that attracts many residents and tourists from other cities each year. If you would like to coordinate your visit with the celebration, check the specific event dates in advance.

River and Island Landscape

The municipal program “Campana desde el río” invites visitors to experience the island landscape on trips along the Paraná. Check dates and registration requirements before making plans. This river experience can thus be distinguished from the city’s cultural offerings, without combining the two into a single visit program.

In the wider destination of Campana Partido

Parque Nacional Ciervo de los Pantanos is located in Campana Partido and protects an ecosystem of wetlands, grassland, and riverbank forests across more than 5,000 hectares. Three trails, each nearly two kilometers long, lead to two viewpoints with panoramic views over the wetland. Hikes can be taken independently or with an expert guide.

The 5-kilometer Camino Islas Malvinas offers a different way to get around: it connects Estación Rómulo Otamendi with the Costa del Paraná pier and can be ridden by bicycle through the wetland. The trails to the viewpoints and this cycling route therefore differ clearly in both mode of travel and distance.

Bodega Gamboa is also part of the wider destination of Campana Partido. Activities there include picnics among the vines, wine and cheese tastings, guided tours, and taking part in the grape harvest. Alongside Campana’s city history, these options offer further cultural, nature, and food-and-drink experiences to consider when choosing a stay.
