A 2.85-metre-tall statue of George W. Bush, the Tekke, and the Llixha Bilaj thermal baths give Fushë-Krujë specific cultural points of interest. Topics range from ancient settlement history to the landscapes and craft traditions of the Krujë region.
Historical traces and memorials
The ruins of Albanopolis lie on a hill in the southern section of the national road between Krujë and Fushë-Krujë. Archaeological research links Albanopolis to settlement by the tribe of the Albanians from the 4th century BC. A 90-metre-long stone wall with three towers remains from the city; it was divided into the Acropolis, the Middle City, and the Small City.
The Tekke of Fushë-Krujë is associated with the year 1562 and Father Ali. Another historical point of interest is the statue of President George W. Bush in Fushë-Krujë: it is 2.85 metres tall and depicts Bush with his left hand raised. A plaque on the pedestal records his visit to Albania in 2007 and describes him as a great friend of the Albanians. The statue was unveiled on 6 July 2011; it is said to have been erected at the place where Bush gave a public address in 2007.
There are about ten tunnels on Zgërdhesh Hill, built between 1945 and 1990 as part of a communist military base. They are in the Fushë Krujë administrative unit, about five kilometres from the centre of Fushë-Krujë. This historical topic is therefore markedly different in time from the ancient settlement of Albanopolis.
Nature, hikes, and landscapes
Walking, hiking, photography, and picnicking are possible in Qafë-Shtamë Nature Park. Possible activities in Qafë-Shtamë Nature Park also include observing the local flora and fauna and exploring mountain trails. What is feasible on site may vary depending on the weather, local conditions, and local administration.
The ascent on the Skanderbeg Trail covers about 3.71 kilometres and takes approximately two and a half hours. These approximate figures provide a concrete reference for planning your time; trail and access conditions may change depending on the season.
Gryka e Zezë features karst caves and large boulders in the riverbed. The boulders have broken away from the sides of the gorge, creating the impression of a natural bridge. Rrepet e Arramerasit in Fushë-Krujë is listed among the natural monuments for Krujë in the 2025 report of the Durrës Prefecture. The Selvie of Fushë-Krujë is listed in the 2017 national tourism database as a Category III natural monument and a resource for nature tourism.
Thermal baths, crafts, and getting around
Llixha Bilaj is a family-run thermal bath in Fushë-Krujë offering natural mineral baths. The Krujë region is also known for traditional crafts such as copperwork, wool and silver work, making qeleshe, woodcarving, embroidery, and weaving. This regional cultural connection adds another perspective to Fushë-Krujë’s historical themes.
