Clintonville offers travelers several distinct points of interest: a park in the city center, natural and recreational areas, places with local history, and a golf course. These places differ in how they are used and in the details that set them apart. When planning your stay, you can first decide whether cultural history, nature and outdoor recreation, or golf should be your main focus.

Parks, Nature, and Outdoor Recreation

Walter A. Olen Park is in the city center, one block east of Main Street. It has a seasonal ice rink and the Jim Simpson Memorial Disc Golf Course. The historic Four Wheel Drive marker is also in the park. The block east of Main Street provides a specific reference point for exploring the city.

Seven Maples Nature Area is at the end of W. 13th Street and at the end of Fairway Drive. A natural, mowed trail runs along the edge of the area. The site is considered a natural area where numerous wild animals live. The trail and wildlife habitat offer different points of interest for travelers interested in nature and walking trails.

Pigeon Lake Wayside has a boat landing, access to a hiking trail, and a sledding hill. Three different recreational uses come together in one place. Anglers also have a specific point of interest at the ADA-compliant fishing pier at Ice House Landing.

The Riverwalk is downstream from the dam. The river is on one side, and the Community Center parking lot is on the other; there is a picnic area along the Riverwalk. Gorden Noren Skate Park is next to the Recreation Center Building at 55 East 12th Street. Each place has its own focus: the Riverwalk combines its riverside location with a picnic area, while the skate park is identified by its stated location next to the Recreation Center Building.

History and Local Memorials

Pioneer Park has three buildings with different historical connections. The History House was built in 1861 as Clintonville’s first city hall and first fire station. The Doty-Besserdich House is made of stacked logs joined with mortar. The Ralph Denn, Stavemaker Cabin was built in 1869 as a factory for making barrel staves and as a residence. The range spans early municipal administration and firefighting, a log-and-mortar construction method, and a combination of manufacturing and residential use.

The FWD Seagrave Museum in Clintonville invites visitors to see its collection. The Veteran's Memorial Site was established to honor citizens of Clintonville and beyond who serve or have served in the U.S. armed forces. The museum and memorial complement the historic buildings with a collection and a place of remembrance.

Golf in Clintonville

Clintonville Riverside Golf Course is an 18-hole regulation course. Mature maple, pine, cedar, and oak trees shape the course and its layout. When planning your trip, golf can be considered a separate focus alongside parks, nature, and history.
