From May to October, Lodi offers two regular calendar events: the First Friday Art Walks and the Farmers Market; in winter, an outdoor ice-skating rink is added. The Ice Age Trail also runs through the city, and Spring Creek flows through Lodi. For planning, it’s therefore worth first choosing your preferred travel dates, then selecting suitable cultural or outdoor activities.
Plan Your Visit to Lodi Around the Event Calendar
The Lodi First Friday Art Walks run from the first Friday in May through the first Friday in October, from 5 to 9 p.m. They can therefore be considered an evening event on the first Friday of the month. The Farmers Market runs every Friday from May to October beside the Koltes Do-It Center. Both take place during the same season, but follow different schedules: the art walks are held on the first Friday of the month, while the market is held weekly. If a specific date is important to your trip, check the relevant event day before you visit.
Another regular calendar event is Susie the Duck Days. The annual festival takes place on the second Saturday in August and includes a parade, food, children’s activities, and music in the park. Unlike the Fridays for the market and art walks, Susie the Duck Days is held on a specific Saturday in August. If you want to plan your trip around this festival, check the date before traveling.
Trails, Spring Creek, and a Natural Area
The Ice Age Trail runs through Lodi. In Spring Creek Park, a trail follows Spring Creek; visitors can buy dried corn there to feed the ducks. The creek flows through the city and also accompanies the trail in the park. This gives you two distinct options: a named route through Lodi and a specific park trail with its own activity.
The Lodi Marsh State Natural Area is nearby. From the intersection of Highways 60 and 113 in Lodi, drive 0.6 miles west on Highway 60, then 1.5 miles south on Riddle Road to the DNR parking lot east of the road. From there, walk west across the road into the natural area. Road conditions and access may change; check both before your visit.
Local History and Recreation
The Portage Street Historic District was added to the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2000. It is a historic point of interest in Lodi that complements the annual and seasonal events with a lasting connection to the area’s history.
Swimming, ice skating, and curling are also among the recreational activities mentioned. You can swim at Goeres Park Pool. Lodi has an outdoor ice-skating rink in winter. If you’d like to try curling, you can plan a visit to the Lodi Curling Club: its facility in Lodi has two curling sheets, and the club operates seasonally. This seasonal offering differs from ice skating, which is specifically available in winter; the respective operating periods are relevant when planning your trip.
