A full-size Utahraptor model and the Pilling figurines at the Prehistoric Museum at USU Eastern offer two distinct ways to explore the past. The museum is in downtown Price; the Pilling figurines are on display in the archaeological exhibit hall. The Bryner Pioneer Museum is also one of Price’s historic sites. For a culture-focused stay, themes ranging from prehistoric times to the town’s history are all within reach.

Museums and Local History

The Bryner House was built by Albert Bryner in 1892. Hans Ulrich Bryner, the first Bryner to come to Price, arrived in 1883. Price is described as a mining town. Groups that were part of the population of Price and the surrounding towns and communities included Greeks, Italians, Eastern Europeans, Mexicans, and Japanese people who came to work on railroads and in coal mines. The town’s history therefore encompasses not only buildings, but also the people and work that shaped the area.

The Price River: Along the Banks and on the Water

The Price River runs through Price, adding water-based activities to the museum and history offerings. There are several access points for fishing and floating. Multiple access points are also available for boats, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and inner tubes. There is also a trail along the river for walking and biking. You can choose between activities along the banks and on the water: the trail is for walks and bike rides, while the access points serve fishing and water sports.

The Desert Wave Pool offers public swimming. Alongside river activities, it provides another option for spending time in the water.

Art, Theater, and Seasonal Concerts

The Utah State University Eastern campus features several significant public artworks that students and the wider community can visit. Gallery East at Utah State University Eastern provides a space for art exhibitions and related activities open to the public in southeastern Utah. The Theatre at USU Eastern has two performance spaces where students and audiences can experience live theater productions. USU Eastern also hosts musical performances featuring students from one of its two choirs at community concerts. Visual art and exhibitions sit alongside live theater and music. If you want to plan around a particular performance, check the specific event dates.

Free concerts are held every Thursday evening in Price City’s Peace Garden from mid-June through mid-August. This seasonal schedule gives you a clear guide for planning a concert visit.
