Schroon Lake can be explored through specific landmarks: Town Beach and the boat launch are located in Town Park; in Schroon Lake, a hike up Mount Severance usually takes no more than an hour to reach a summit with views of Schroon Lake, Pharaoh Mountain and Paradox Lake. Other options include a town-owned 9-hole golf course, a snowmobile trail network spanning more than 48 miles, and cultural venues. Town Park: Beach and Boat Launch

Town Beach is located in Town Park, east of Main Street. The Town/NYS-DEC boat launch is also in the park, next to the Boathouse Theater. The park is therefore the shared location; Main Street and the theater provide additional landmarks to help you find the beach and launch. Culture: Art Deco, Live Music and Theater

The Strand Theatre is an original Art Deco cinema and event venue in Schroon Lake. Schroon Lake Live has a history of more than 50 years of live music at Schroon Lake. For the 2026 summer programs, the Town Bandstand on Dock Street was scheduled to serve as a venue unless otherwise noted. For the Seagle Festival, “Little Red Riding Hood” was announced for July 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Boathouse Theater in Schroon Lake. This distinguishes three forms of culture: an Art Deco cinema that also hosts events, a music program with a long history, and a single festival performance with a scheduled time.

Hiking, Snowmobile Trails and Golf

There are different ways to get active. In Schroon Lake, a hike up Mount Severance leads to the summit; it is considered suitable for beginners and usually takes no more than an hour. From the summit, views extend to Schroon Lake, Pharaoh Mountain and Paradox Lake. By contrast, the Schroon Lake Snowmobile Trail System comprises a network of more than 48 miles of snowmobile trails. The figures differ in type and scale: a typical duration is given for the hike, while the total length of the trail network is given for the trail system. This makes the choice between a manageable summit hike and an extensive trail network more concrete. Another option is the town-owned Schroon Lake Golf Course, with nine holes and a clubhouse; it complements hiking and snowmobile trails as a distinct recreational option.
