A paved, non-motorized path along the Diversion and narrow mountain bike trails around Mt. Roseau give the Roseau Greenway different features. There is also an ATV terrain park. The Roseau County Museum, the Pioneer Farm and Village, and the Polaris Experience Center offer insights into cultural history. Markets and seasonal events round out the offerings. When planning, you can prioritize local history, outdoor activities and seasonal events.
Museums and Historic Sites
The Roseau County Museum features exhibits on the cultural and natural history of Roseau County and northwest Minnesota. Changing exhibits from the Smithsonian Institution and other regional providers add to the offerings. The Roseau County Historical Society and Museum also shares the history of Roseau County through exhibits, a research center and educational programs.
The Roseau Pioneer Farm and Village was established as an agricultural museum in 1975. Its restored buildings include a one-room schoolhouse, a print shop, a general store and a church. The annual Pioneer Farm Festival, held in the fall, features demonstrations from an earlier era, music and other activities for the whole family.
The 5,600-square-foot Polaris Experience Center in Roseau introduces visitors to the history and development of Polaris. Factory tours are also available: they are free and open to the public, and take place during regular production at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. As the schedule may change, check the time before your visit.
Outdoor Recreation
The Greenway’s paved recreational trail is 4.5 miles long, is non-motorized and runs along the entire Diversion. Nearly 13 miles of narrow mountain bike trails wind around Mt. Roseau. These lengths describe different offerings and trail locations. An ATV terrain park is also part of the Greenway.
Located along the Roseau River, the publicly operated Oak Crest Golf Course features an 18-hole championship course. The wooded Roseau City Park is in southeast Roseau. It covers more than 40 acres and has a boat launch on the Roseau River. Roseau is also a participating community on the Pine to Prairie International Birding Trail.
The Roseau City Park offers RV and tent campsites with water and electrical hookups. Camping availability may vary by season; if you plan to stay there, check the conditions before your trip.
Markets and Seasonal Events
The Roseau Marketplace takes place every Thursday from June through October across from the Roseau City Center. It features local produce and crafts. Regional musicians perform at the Riverview Park Gazebo on summer Thursdays. The Roseau County Fair offers events, entertainment and food.
The seasons can also help with event planning: the Pioneer Farm Festival takes place in the fall, while music at the gazebo is a summer offering. Dates and programs may change; check the specific event dates before your trip. This lets you plan your travel dates around the offerings that interest you most.
