At the Vasaloppet Nordic Center in Mora, you’ll find more than 13 km of groomed trails, including 5 km with lighting for night skiing. Races, cultural attractions and an aquatic center complement the focus on cross-country skiing with a variety of ways to spend your stay. You can shape your trip around the things that interest you most.

Cross-Country Skiing and Races

Skiers of all ability levels are welcome at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center. Two figures help clarify what’s available: the total length of groomed trails and the portion lit for night skiing. The 5 km with lighting are part of the more than 13 km of trails. Mora is also home to the international cross-country ski race Vasaloppet USA.

Trail running is also on offer: the annual Swedish Mile Trail Race and Family Fun Day includes a timed 10 km trail run, a 5 km fun run, a children’s race and family-friendly activities. The course runs through wooded areas around the Vasaloppet Nordic Center and uses its ski and fat-bike singletrack trails. Dates and program details may change; if you’re planning your trip around the event, check the latest information beforehand.

The Mora Classic Series brings together ski, canoe, running and cycling events to be completed within a period of twelve consecutive months. The Mora Motion Series takes a different approach, offering opportunities to participate in shorter races throughout the year. These are two distinct ways to plan your sporting activities: take part in several disciplines within a set period, or choose from shorter races spread across the year.

History and Landmarks

The Kanabec History Center’s main building features exhibits on logging, medicine and Ojibwe winter camps, as well as a kitchen from 1906. The Pole Building contains reconstructed storefronts for a dentist’s office, a general store and a blacksmith’s shop. The two buildings offer different perspectives: exhibits on regional topics in one, and recreated business premises in the other.

Other attractions in Mora include the Mora Klocka Bell Tower and a 25-foot-tall Dala horse, described as the largest in the United States. The horse’s height gives you a concrete sense of scale as you explore the area, while the Bell Tower adds another named landmark to the list. Along with the History Center exhibits, they offer several different ways to enjoy a culture-focused stay.

Swimming and Water Slides

The Mora Aquatic Center offers a different kind of activity from ski trails and race events. Facilities include a full-depth swimming pool, a zero-entry pool, two flume slides and a drop slide. This makes it easy to distinguish the options: the center focuses on pools and slides, while the Vasaloppet Nordic Center is defined by its groomed trails.

Mora brings together several distinct attractions without requiring you to combine them into a single itinerary: cross-country skiing with a lit section of trail, different race formats, exhibits and reconstructed storefronts, and an aquatic center with a variety of pools and slides. Decide which of these areas you’d like to shape your trip around, and use the others as additional ideas when planning your stay.
