Erlanger offers several different points of interest for planning a trip: the 1877 railway station building reflects its railroad history, while the Erlanger Historical Depot Museum showcases local history and artifacts. There is also a seasonal farmers market and a range of park offerings. You can plan your stay around historical topics, a market visit or outdoor activities. Deciding which of these aspects matters most to you is a good first step in planning your time in Erlanger.

Railway Station and Museum: Two Historical Perspectives

Erlanger’s railway station building was constructed in 1877 along the Southern Railroad line. Today, it is the only surviving wooden building from the original Southern Railroad between Cincinnati and Chattanooga. Its year of construction, building material and connection to the broader railway network give it a clearly defined historical context.

The Erlanger Historical Depot Museum preserves and showcases the history of Erlanger, as well as local artifacts. Its rotating exhibitions draw on a collection that consists largely of donations from the community. For cultural planning, this means there is a fixed historical landmark alongside an exhibition program that changes over the course of the year.

Parks with a Range of Activities

Eons Adventure Park features a hiking trail and The Flow Bike Track. Amber Run Dog Park is located within the park: two fully fenced, grassy play areas are provided for large and small dogs. Water fountains are available in both areas. The same park thus offers different types of recreation, which need not be treated as a single activity.

Silverlake Park adds tennis and pickleball courts to the selection. For planning purposes, it helps to distinguish between the specific interests: Amber Run Dog Park is for dogs, the hiking trail and The Flow Bike Track are other offerings at Eons Adventure Park, and the focus at Silverlake Park is on the two ball sports.

Park facilities may change. Check the information for each park before planning a specific visit.

Dixie Farmer’s Market in Season

The Dixie Farmer’s Market takes place seasonally every Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Erlanger Baptist Church. The season begins on the first Thursday in May and ends on the last Thursday in October; dates may vary slightly from year to year. So check the market dates for the year before your trip.

Rotating vendors sell fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, butter, eggs and other products. Since vendor participation can change, the selection is not the same at every market. The market can therefore be considered a seasonal activity: it takes place on a set day of the week and during a set time period, while the selection may vary.

Getting Your Bearings and Finding Hotels

Erlanger is located at the junction of Interstates I-71/75 and I-275. Erlanger is approximately five minutes from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport; actual driving time depends on traffic. The highway information and approximate travel time to the airport offer different points of reference for your journey.

When searching for hotels in Erlanger, first consider the role you want travel logistics and planned activities to play in your trip. This helps you tailor your choices to your own plans rather than deciding based solely on a place name.
