Cedar Lake is a community on a 794-acre lake. Visitors looking for a destination with a connection to the water will find several options here: the Town Complex includes parks and open spaces with a shoreline; there is also a public beach and a sightseeing cruise on the lake. Parks and community events add their own appeal. For your stay, you can choose how to balance time by the water, visits to parks, culture and local events.
Lakefront and Town Complex
The Town Complex at Morse Street and Constitution Avenue offers 18 acres of parks and open spaces. The complex also includes more than 500 feet of lakefront. This makes it a place that combines open space with a direct connection to the water. A large parking lot at the center of the Town Complex provides a clear landmark for the area. Cedar Lake also has a public beach. When planning your time by the lake, you can choose between a beach visit and the open spaces and lakefront at the Town Complex. The Town Complex is especially appealing if parks, open spaces and lakefront are all part of what you want to focus on during your visit.
Parks with a range of amenities
The parks each offer something different. Kiwanis Dog Park has equipment for obedience and agility activities, as well as an area for small dogs. This gives the park two distinct features for a dog-focused visit. Park of the Red Cedars has a different focus: it has a playground and bandstand, as well as shelters and a pavilion. Your interests can help you choose between the two locations: dog facilities at Kiwanis Dog Park or a playground and performance space at Park of the Red Cedars.
Events and dates
Events complement the parks and water activities. The Town Complex hosts the annual SummerFest. Community events in Cedar Lake also include Movies in the Park. If you’d like to include one of these activities in your trip, check the dates for your specific stay and compare them with your travel dates.
For the 2026 season, the Cedar Lake Farmer's Market at the Town Complex was scheduled to run from May 13 to September 23, on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. These dates refer to the 2026 season schedule; dates may differ in later years. Since this period has now passed, do not assume the same dates will apply to future stays.
A historical highlight and a lake excursion
The Museum at Lassen’s Resort is a beautifully restored historic hotel. It adds a distinct historical highlight to the local mix of lake and parks. For a sightseeing cruise on Cedar Lake, the Dewey Line departs from Cedar Lake Pier. While the museum and parks appeal to different interests, the cruise focuses on the lake itself. If you plan to take the cruise, check the Dewey Line’s departure times in advance.
