Jerome, Idaho, offers several distinct themes to explore: military history, the history of the region and the Magic Valley, agricultural heritage, and parks with sports and open spaces. The museums focus on different aspects, while the parks offer opportunities for sports, play and picnics. You can choose the focus of your stay based on the subjects that interest you most.

Military and Regional History

The Northside Military Museum honors local heroes, preserves the history of their military service and informs the public about their selfless service. Its exhibits introduce veterans from the Magic Valley who served in peacetime and wartime. The focus is on people from the region and their service history.

The Jerome County Historical Museum presents the history and artifacts of the area around Jerome. Its exhibits include the Hunt Japanese American Relocation Center and the North Side Irrigation Project. These topics offer specific points of entry into the broader regional history: depending on your interests, you can learn about the relocation center or the irrigation project. The museum is next to the Jerome Memorial Library.

Agricultural Heritage in the Magic Valley

The Idaho Farm & Ranch Museum preserves the agricultural heritage of the Magic Valley. The museum includes several historic buildings, a barn, a church and agricultural equipment. While the Jerome County Historical Museum presents the history and artifacts of the area around Jerome, this museum focuses specifically on the agricultural heritage of the Magic Valley.

The Idaho Farm & Ranch Museum is northeast of the intersection of Interstate 84 and Highway 93. At Live History Days, participants can experience life on a farm and learn about the history of agriculture in the region. If you would like to include this event in your trip, check the event dates in advance.

Parks with Different Features

At 20 acres, Gayle Forsyth Memorial Park is three acres larger than the 17-acre Founders Park. Gayle Forsyth Memorial Park has baseball and softball fields, open spaces, a basketball hoop, two sand volleyball courts and two picnic shelters. Founders Park has a large playground and picnic shelters, and is home to College of Southern Idaho soccer. Comparing the size and different amenities can help you choose between the two parks based on your interests.

Spears Park has an outdoor swimming pool that can be rented separately or together with the park. This offers a different planning option from the sports, play and picnic amenities mentioned for the other parks: Spears Park specifically offers the option to rent the outdoor pool and park separately or together.

Planning Your Stay

The visitor center at Minidoka National Historic Site is located at 1428 Hunt Road, Jerome, Idaho. The Jerome County Fairgrounds are just off Interstate 84. These specific locations offer different reference points for planning: an address for the visitor center and a highway location for the fairgrounds.
