Beach, Paths, and Promenade

Clearwater Beach lies at the western end of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard, also known as State Road 60. Several beach access points are located along Mandalay Avenue and Gulfview Boulevard. Clearwater Beach is easy to explore on foot, with restaurants and shops nearby. This means you can plan your visit not only around the beach but also around the amenities in town.

Lifeguards monitor Clearwater Beach year-round. City staff clean and rake the beach daily. Three beach access mats make it easier to get around on the sand.

Beach Walk is a winding beachfront promenade south of Pier 60. Lush landscaping and artistic design features shape the promenade, while offering unobstructed views of the beach. If you are choosing between spending time directly on the sand and strolling along a promenade, you can make Beach Walk a focus of your plans.

Getting There and Pier 60

The Clearwater Ferry stops at Clearwater Beach Marina near Pier 60. The Suncoast Beach Trolley serves Clearwater Beach and Pier 60. For a visit to the pier, it helps to distinguish between the two: the ferry stops at the nearby marina, while the trolley explicitly serves the pier. Check schedules ahead of time; trolley times may change.

Pier 60 has a 1,080-foot fishing pier where visitors can fish. There are telescopes in the Pier 60 Recreation Park. The Sunsets at Pier 60 Nightly Celebration features street performers and local vendors. Fishing and the recurring sunset-time program are different reasons to include the pier in your plans. The fishing pier is approximately 329 meters long.

Water Sports and Cruises

At Clearwater Beach, you can swim, collect shells, and build sandcastles. There are also opportunities for parasailing, jet skiing, and stand-up paddleboarding. The options range from beach activities to various water sports. Kiosks along the harbor on Coronado Drive can point you toward water sports activities. The three water sports differ in how you move: jet skiing is motorized, stand-up paddleboarding involves standing on a board and using a paddle, and parasailing adds an activity in the air.

Scenic dinner cruises are offered at Clearwater Beach Marina. Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise departs from the marina and travels along the Intracoastal Waterway. On evening cruises, visitors can watch the sunset over the Gulf. There are different ways to enjoy the evening: the celebration at the pier or views of the Gulf from a cruise.
