Jupiter offers several distinct highlights to consider when planning your trip: the still-active Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, beach areas with different features, a natural area with cultural resources, and insights into river and marine ecosystems.

Lighthouse with an active function

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse continues to serve as a public navigation aid. Its first-order Fresnel lens is one of only 13 lenses of this type still in operation in the United States. Its navigational function makes the lighthouse a special destination for travelers interested in maritime technology and history.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum gives visitors access to the lighthouse and provides historical context. One program includes climbing 105 steps and viewing the sunset from above. Availability may vary. If this program is important to your plans, check in advance whether it is being offered during your visit.

Beach and natural area

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area is a 120-acre area in northern Palm Beach County with diverse natural and cultural resources. It includes an 800-foot stretch of beach. Nature and coastal features are therefore both central here.

Jupiter Beach Park offers a different feature: it has 1,700 feet of lifeguard-protected beach. Jupiter Dog Beach is a 2.5-mile stretch of beach from dune crossover marker No. 26 to dune crossover marker No. 57. Well-behaved, obedient, well-socialized dogs accompanied by responsible owners are welcome there from sunrise to sunset. Dogs may play and swim off leash.

When comparing beach options, consider more than just the length: at Jupiter Beach Park, lifeguard protection is the defining feature; at Jupiter Dog Beach, visiting hours and the rules for dogs and owners shape how it can be used. This can help you choose based on what matters for your visit.

River ecosystems and waterways

The Loxahatchee River Center is located in Burt Reynolds Park on US 1, north of Indiantown Road. Live aquariums, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank showcase ecosystems ranging from freshwater cypress swamps to a seagrass-dominated estuary and marine ecosystems. Together, they connect different habitats through a continuous nature theme. Individual exhibits may be temporarily affected by maintenance. If a particular area is important to you, check in advance to confirm its current operating status.

The Jupiter Waterway Trail is a series of routes connecting the Loxahatchee River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Jupiter Inlet. This sets it apart thematically from the exhibits at the River Center: the center focuses on different ecosystems, while the trail connects routes with three named waterways.

Other places to visit

Cracker Farmstead in Riverbend Park is another place to visit. Along with the lighthouse, beaches, natural area, and River Center, it expands the selection of places to consider when planning your trip.
