Orlando offers a wide range of ways to explore: a lakeside loop, trails through parkland, and museums with their own themes. If you’re looking for hotels in Orlando, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your stay. Would you like to spend time outdoors, explore American art, or discover interactive exhibits? The places below offer specific ideas, without requiring you to follow a fixed itinerary.

Walking Trails and Parkland

In Lake Eola Park, a 0.9-mile walking path circles the lake. Visitors can also attend concerts, films, or theater performances at the Walt Disney Amphitheater in the same park. This offers different ways to spend time in the park: a walk by the water or a visit for a stage or film program.

In Demetree Park, three lakes are connected by trails and boardwalks. The boardwalk passes through a wooded area and is suitable for walking. The city lists a renovation closure for this boardwalk beginning August 31, 2026; check whether access is available before your visit. Unlike the single loop at Lake Eola, the trail network in Demetree Park connects several lakes.

The Orlando Southeast Trail is approximately 13 miles long. Ninety percent of the trail runs independently of roads; the trail network is home to numerous birds, mammals, and reptiles. At about 13 miles, it offers a different route option from the 0.9-mile loop at Lake Eola. The Lake Underhill Path, in turn, offers something different: it connects six parks within Orlando’s park network. At Lake Underhill, boat ramps provide access to fishing on the lake. This gives you two different interests to consider for your stay: a connection between several parks and an activity on the water.

Bill Frederick Park covers 183 acres along Turkey Lake and offers opportunities for outdoor environmental education. Group field trips may include guided tours of native plants. This gives the park a distinctive focus for visitors who want to engage with nature not only on a walk, but also through an educational program.

Art, Exhibitions, and Arrival

Orlando’s museums each offer a different thematic focus. The Mennello Museum of American Art presents exhibitions celebrating the diversity of American art. The Orlando Museum of Art, also known as OMART, is part of Loch Haven Park near downtown Orlando.

The Museum of Illusions Orlando offers interactive and immersive exhibitions on mathematics, science, and psychology. Exhibitions may change; if a particular topic is important to your decision, check the current offerings before your visit. Taken together, the cultural attractions mentioned here range from American art to exhibitions focused on scientific and psychological topics. You can choose a museum based on the subject that interests you most.

One practical point of reference for visiting the Orlando Science Center is the AdventHealth-SunRail station, which is only a short walk from the Science Center. If the museum is part of your plans, you can take this station into account when planning your arrival.
