Lehigh Acres offers a range of recreational options, from observing nature at Harns Marsh to sports at Lehigh Acres Park and a paved multi-use trail at Lehigh Acres Trailhead Park. When planning a stay, you can choose between these destinations based on whether you want to focus on the landscape, sports, or a trail route. The conditions for using each site are also worth factoring into your plans.

Harns Marsh: Water Management and Wildlife

Harns Marsh is an active, 578-acre stormwater management facility. It helps filter water and reduce flooding on the Orange River. At the same time, the wetland provides habitat for Snail Kites, Limpkins, and more than 140 animal species. For nature enthusiasts, the site combines a practical water management function with diverse wildlife.

Harns Marsh is not a park and has no facilities on site. It is open for passive recreation and public exploration from sunrise to sunset unless otherwise posted. Maintenance work and flooding may restrict access. Plan your visit with the lack of facilities in mind, and check whether signs on site limit access.

Sports and Remembrance

Lehigh Acres Park has a disc golf course and pickleball courts. The 20-acre park was donated by the Lehigh Corporation in 1976. The activities have different focuses: disc golf and pickleball each offer their own way to enjoy sports in the park.

The James F. Crockford Jr. Memorial Walkway offers a different experience. Oaks line the walkway; individuals donated the trees in memory of specific veterans. Its memorial significance sets this place apart from the sporting activities at Lehigh Acres Park, adding a cultural element of remembrance to the recreational options.

Multi-Use Trail and Recreated Prairie

Lehigh Acres Trailhead Park combines a paved trail with a recreated landscape: the 0.5-mile multi-use trail loops around a three-acre prairie. The trail is designed for walkers, joggers, runners, wheelchair users, cyclists, skateboarders, and inline skaters; motorized vehicles are not allowed. Those weighing up different ways to get around will find a clearly described alternative to the sports facilities at Lehigh Acres Park.

The design also reflects the site's history: part of a former golf course remains in use. Berms, greens, and sand bunkers have been preserved as original landscape features. The recreated prairie and elements of the former golf course design thus coexist on the site.

Frank Mann Preserve and Getting There

At Frank Mann Preserve, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, and walking in areas with limited access are currently permitted. Conditions may change during construction. If you are planning a visit, check the latest access information; when walking, keep in mind that not all areas are open.

LeeTran serves Lehigh Acres with routes 110 and 515. The Lehigh Acres Park & Ride Facility began operating on April 24, 2025. The facility also has a dedicated pickup and drop-off area for Mobility-on-Demand. Because routes, schedules, availability, and service areas may change, check these details before traveling.
