Viera brings together a range of active pursuits: paved trails in Viera Regional Park, adventure courses at Brevard Zoo, golf, indoor sports and the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands. To help you choose, start with a simple distinction: Would you like to walk or cycle, choose a course, focus on golf, or plan an organized educational activity? The places below offer specific but different ways to do that. This lets you shape your trip around the type of activity, rather than treating all the options as interchangeable outings.

Wetlands and organized activities

The Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Check the conditions before you arrive if you are planning your visit in advance. Educational field trips for school groups, workshops and guided tours can also be organized. If you are interested in one of these formats, plan your visit as an organized activity. Opening hours and organized formats are separate planning considerations: the stated time window applies to visits, while a field trip, workshop or guided tour can be arranged separately.

Trails and sports facilities

Viera Regional Park covers 117.62 acres and is a popular place for athletics and active recreation. Its paved trails offer opportunities for cycling and walking, with views of the lake along the way. If you are deciding between a walk and a bike ride, you will find trails here for both activities. The lake views add a distinctive landscape element to a visit to the park, without requiring any particular way of getting around.

Viera Regional Community Center offers a different kind of sports experience. The facility covers 18,000 square feet, and its gymnasium has a basketball court and four pickleball courts. Unlike Regional Park, whose paved trails are used for cycling and walking, this center has specific playing areas. The two places thus represent different kinds of active recreation: trails in the park on the one hand, and indoor sports with basketball and pickleball courts on the other.

Adventure courses and golf

At Treetop Trek at Brevard Zoo, you can choose from several adventure courses, including the Canopy Walk and Chutes. Chutes is specially designed for children. So when planning, it is worth considering not only the number of courses but also the specific design of this particular option. Unlike the paved trails in Viera Regional Park, Treetop Trek offers adventure courses as an activity in their own right; Chutes is the course specifically designed for children.

Duran Golf Club offers another clearly defined focus. Its course has a links-style character and wide fairways, along with native grasses and gentle elevations around large, undulating greens. These features describe the golf course in terms of its fairways, greens and terrain. If golf is the reason for your trip, it is a different choice of activity from cycling, walking or an adventure course.

Competitions and dining

Viera is home to the USSSA Space Coast Complex, where hundreds of leagues play and compete. The complex is a specific point of interest for visitors whose plans involve league games or competitions. If a particular competition is shaping your trip, check its schedule in advance so you can plan accordingly.

Tradewinds Restaurant at Duran Golf Club serves traditional American cuisine. As restaurant offerings can change, it is a good idea to check the current menu before planning a visit. Viera’s options thus range from trails and sports to courses and golf, competitions and a specifically named restaurant.
