Discover Dixon from different perspectives: local history at the museum and library, community and agricultural activities surrounding the Dixon May Fair, and seasonal farm offerings. These themes represent different ways to visit. When planning, it is therefore important to consider both regular opening hours and seasonal conditions.

History at the Museum and Library

The Dixon Historical Society & Museum is open Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; special openings can be arranged. Check the opening hours before your visit.

The museum displays one of the original Milk Farm signs as part of its Milk Farm Exhibit. Another exhibit covers the Bracero Program: it provided the region’s agricultural sector with needed workers and brought new families and cultures to Dixon. The exhibit addresses the regional agricultural sector’s need for workers, as well as the new families and cultures the program brought to Dixon.

Founded in 1912, the Dixon Library is one of the few remaining Carnegie library buildings in the United States that still operate as libraries. This distinguishes its historical significance from the exhibits in the museum: here, the building itself is the subject, while it continues to serve as a library.

Agriculture and Seasonal Offerings

The Dixon May Fair is California’s oldest county fair, and its fairgrounds are also the oldest in the state. The fair offers community and agricultural activities year-round. Its agricultural connection therefore extends beyond individual seasonal farm offerings.

Silveyville Christmas Tree Farm has operated as a family business since 1979 and offers more than 15,000 trees in five varieties to choose from. The selection may change, so it is worth checking what is available for your planned visit. The founding year describes the business’s history; the number of trees and varieties, by contrast, indicate a changing selection.

As a seasonal Christmas activity, Silveyville Farm offers a ride on Santa’s Red Sleigh around its 20-acre farm. Check availability for your travel dates. Visitors can also see goats on an animal trail; animal offerings are seasonal too and may change. The tree selection, sleigh ride, and animal trail represent different focuses for a farm visit.

Northern California Produce

Pedrick Produce is a family-owned business in Dixon that offers organic produce from Northern California. This offering adds a regional food dimension to the agricultural perspective. Together with the museum exhibits and Dixon May Fair activities, it shows that agriculture in Dixon is present not only as a seasonal activity, but also as part of local business life.
