North Tahoe Beach, water sports and golf history offer different highlights in Kings Beach. When choosing accommodation, it helps to first organize your planned activities: Should your stay include time by the water, a day of golf or—if the dates work out—a concert? Base your search on your actual travel dates; seasonal offers and transport connections can then be checked specifically.
Shoreline and outdoor activities
North Tahoe Beach has 540 feet of public shoreline. Secline Beach is also in Kings Beach; its wooded, elevated grounds offer shaded picnic tables and barbecue grills. Fishing, windsurfing and surfing are available at Kings Beach State Recreation Area. The place names can help you choose based on your priorities: shoreline at North Tahoe Beach, water sports at the Recreation Area, or picnic tables and barbecue grills at Secline Beach.
Water activities and boat ramp
Kayaks are rented at Kings Beach State Recreation Area during the warmer months; North Tahoe Watersports offers personal watercraft there. The Kings Beach boat ramp at the end of Raccoon Street is authorized exclusively for clean, dry, non-motorized watercraft. Kayak rentals and ramp use involve different planning requirements: the former is tied to the warmer season, while the latter depends on the type of watercraft and its clean, dry condition.
Golf history and summer events
Old Brockway Golf Course is more than 3,400 yards long and has two par-5 holes. It also has a historical connection: in 1935, the golf course in Kings Beach hosted Bing Crosby’s first “Crosby” golf tournament. The course length and hole classification give golfers specific details about the course; its tournament history also places it in a historical context.
“Music on the Beach” was listed as a summer concert series for 2026. Events were scheduled for every Friday from late June through August at Kings Beach State Recreation Area. For upcoming seasons, check the current dates and whether the series will continue. This lets you plan a concert around your travel dates rather than simply carrying earlier dates over to later years.
Getting around and planning accommodation to suit
Tahoe and Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) serves Kings Beach; the free public transit system connects the town with Tahoe City, Crystal Bay, Truckee and Northstar, among other places. Check routes and schedules again before your trip. TART Connect is a separate service: this on-demand, curb-to-curb service includes Kings Beach in its service zone. Service zones and operating periods are seasonal and should also be checked again before your trip. For TART, routes and schedules are important; for TART Connect, you should also check the seasonal service zone and operating period.
One important goal of the North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program is to ensure parking turnover for businesses in the Kings Beach Commercial Core. Parking rules can change, so check the applicable regulations again before you arrive.
Match your accommodation choice to your daily plans and check availability for your preferred dates.
