The Museum of Forest Monk Practice at Wat Pa Na Kham Noi preserves the practices of forest monks, the history of their teachers, and the lineage tradition of Luang Pu Mun. It thus focuses on the connection between religious practice and the transmission of teachings.

Temples and Religious Traditions

Wat Pa Phu Kon is a Buddhist temple in the Na Yung–Nam Som National Forest Reserve. It is located in Ban Na Kham, Tambon Ban Kong, Amphoe Na Yung, Udon Thani Province. The Phra Pathom Ratana Burapachan Maha Chedi at Wat Pa Phu Kon was built to house Buddha relics for veneration. The focus here is on relic veneration, while the museum at Wat Pa Na Kham Noi preserves the forest monk tradition.

The entrance to the sanctuary at Wat Pa Phu Kon is open daily from 08:30 to 17:00. Check the opening hours again before you arrive so you can plan your visit within this time window.

Yung Thong: Waterfall and Nature Watching

Yung Thong Waterfall is designated as a protected natural area; the relevant Cabinet decision dates to November 7, 1989. It lies along the ridges of Phu Phan and Phu Ya U and cascades over a broad rock face. This brings together a striking landscape feature and designated protected status.

A footpath to the waterfall is used to observe medicinal plants in Tambon Na Yung, Amphoe Na Yung, Udon Thani Province. The trail therefore also draws attention to the plant life. As trail conditions may change, check them before setting out.

Activities and Stays in Ban Kiri Wongkot

Year-round activities in Ban Kiri Wongkot include playing in the water at Huai Chang Phlai Waterfall. Seasonal and operating conditions may change; ask about current conditions before your visit. The village offers tourists overnight stays in homestays and at campsites. Confirm the specific arrangements before you travel.

Local experiences are also part of what is on offer: bamboo tubes are used as containers for lunch, and villagers teach visitors how to make banana chips. Ask in advance whether banana-chip making is currently offered. Agricultural tractor rides pass through streams and forest landscapes.

The megalithic rock shelters were shaped by glacial movements and the differential erosion of rock layers. Rock paintings of human figures, palms, animals and geometric patterns appear on the surfaces of 47 shelters. Since its transformation into a Buddhist religious center in the 7th century, Phu Phrabat has continued to be used as one.
