The Khek River offers a rafting route of about 8 kilometers, passing a total of 15 rapids. The starting point is at the upper end of Song Waterfall and can be reached from the parking area via a short walk. Local access rules may change, so check them before setting out on a tour.

River, Waterfall and Grassland

Kaeng Sopha Waterfall in Thung Salaeng Luang National Park is 40 meters high and consists of three tiers. Thung Salaeng Luang is also a grassland whose colors change with the seasons. The national park is also suitable for trekking. This gives you the chance to experience nature not only through its landscapes, but also through an outdoor activity.

Other designated water activities include swimming at Chat Trakan Waterfall and rafting at Huai Sam Ruak Reservoir. The locations therefore offer different activities: riding rapids on the Khek River, swimming at a waterfall, or rafting on the reservoir. Water levels and local access and safety conditions may change; check them before making plans.

Phu Hin Rong Kla National Park, which lies partly in Phitsanulok Province, offers astronomy programs and activities for photographing constellations and the Milky Way. Program details may change. If these activities are important to your trip, check in advance what is currently planned.

Nature Watching and Distinctive Landscapes

Freshwater jellyfish and rare butterflies can be found in the Kaeng Wang Nam Yen area. This means that the area offers a chance to see both freshwater wildlife and butterflies. At the Nakorn Chum viewpoint, you can watch a blanket of mist spread across the landscape; whether it is visible depends on the weather.

Tham Phra Wang Daeng Cave offers a very different landscape: it has an underground river and is about 13.5 kilometers long. The cave provides a distinctive feature alongside the grassland, misty views and waterfall.

Temples, History and Everyday Culture

Phra Buddha Chinnarat is located at Wat Phra Si Mahathat Woramahaviharn in Phitsanulok Province. Wat Chulamanee is an ancient historical site in the province, where a replica of Phra Phutthabat’s footprint is located. Wat Ratchaburana is considered one of the oldest known temples in Phitsanulok, while Chan Palace is among the province’s cultural attractions.

Everyday history is also part of the cultural discoveries: Ja Thawee Folk Museum preserves traditional tools and handicrafts once used by the local people of Phitsanulok. Buranathai Buddha Making Factory was established in 1968. This offers a perspective that spans religious images, historical sites and objects from everyday life in the past.

Rural Life and a Culinary Note

In Amphoe Noen Maprang, you can experience the lives of local people amid mountains and expansive rice fields. This perspective complements the temples and historical sites with an insight into rural life in the province.

Jaroenpol Ice Cream offers a distinctive culinary note: the ice cream is made with coconut milk. The Nan River, which flows through Phitsanulok Province, also helps orient you geographically.
