The statue of “Guan Yin Bodhisattva,” made of white jade, stands at Khao Phanom Set. It weighs 14 tonnes and is 5.4 metres tall. The Phanom Set viewpoint is on the summit of the same mountain. Khao Phanom Set therefore brings together a religious work of art and a landscape view; the statue and viewpoint give the place two distinct points of interest.
Views of Bueng Boraphet
From the Phanom Set viewpoint, you can look out over Bueng Boraphet. In the wider destination of Nakhon Sawan, Bueng Boraphet is Thailand’s largest freshwater lake; it is also a natural lake and a habitat for many bird species. This specific viewpoint is thus connected to a larger regional natural area. Stairs lead to the viewpoint. As conditions at the site may change, check them before visiting.
Mountain sites with distinct points of interest
Siri Wattana Wisut Forest Monastery is located on Khao Khok Phen in Tha Tako District. It features distinctive architecture and sculptures. Unlike the viewpoint on Khao Phanom Set, the monastery is on its own named mountain. This distinction helps with orientation: Khao Phanom Set brings together the statue and the viewpoint, while Khao Khok Phen is known for the monastery and its design.
Private vehicles are not allowed to drive up the mountain at Siri Wattana Wisut Forest Monastery. A monastery-operated songthaew service takes visitors from the parking area to the attractions on Bodhisattva Mountain. As access rules and transport may change, confirm the current arrangements before visiting.
Handicrafts in Tha Tako and Nakhon Sawan
In Phanom Set, a community group makes hammocks from water hyacinths. Here, water hyacinth becomes the material for a practical item; this craft offers a different point of interest from the architecture and sculptures of the mountain sites. Grilled fish is also one of Phanom Set’s well-known local products.
The wider destination of Nakhon Sawan also has a hand-weaving group and a handicraft sales centre for tourists in Ban Chansen. Together with the hammocks from Phanom Set, these offer two distinct craft traditions: hand-weaving and hammock-making. If you are interested in Ban Chansen, check current visiting arrangements in advance.
Nakhon Sawan is also a gateway between Thailand’s central and northern regions; the province features low-lying landscapes along riverbanks. This regional context complements the specific places in Tha Tako with a broader picture of the wider destination’s landscape.
Where to look for accommodation
Phanom Set is connected to Tha Tako District by the Phanom Rok–Thap Krit Highway. If Phanom Set is among your travel interests, this road connection can serve as a local reference point when looking for a holiday rental in Tha Tako. You can first set Tha Tako as your accommodation destination, then prioritise individual visits according to your interests.
