Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz combines cultural events with trails through the Pre-Alpine landscape. Two distinct highlights can help you plan your visit: the church of La Chiésaz and its concert programme, as well as hikes and activities on the Pléiades. In winter, snowshoe routes and skiing activities are also available. When choosing a place to stay, you can first decide whether the church and music or outdoor activities should be the main focus. Your travel dates and daily plans will then depend on different considerations: concert dates on the one hand, and snow and operating conditions on the other.

Church and concert programme

The church of La Chiésaz dates from the 12th century and has a star-shaped ceiling. The church of St-Légier-La Chiésaz also serves as a venue for classical concerts. The Concerts de la Chiésaz focus in particular on medieval music and organ music; four to six concerts are currently held each year, although the number may vary slightly from season to season. If attending a concert is part of your plans, check the specific event dates before setting your travel dates. You can reach the church on the Vevey–Blonay–Les Pléiades railway line, getting off at La Chiésaz. Check current rail services before travelling.

Another cultural feature is the mural art of Alfred Béguin, who lived in Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz. Many of his murals are still visible or have been restored.

Hiking trails and landscape

The section of the Chemin panorama alpin between Les Paccots and Vevey passes through Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz and is part of Switzerland’s established hiking trail network. The Veveyse Trail has a different destination: a route description from 2020 explains how it descends from the La Veyre area to the Veveyse gorges and follows a narrow forest path as it leaves Saint-Légier. The two routes therefore differ in their described courses: here, the panorama trail connects Les Paccots and Vevey, while the Veveyse Trail leads to the gorges.

The former municipality of St-Légier-La Chiésaz included part of the Pre-Alps, as well as slopes and terraces above the northeastern shore of Lake Geneva. The wider former municipal area contained extensive forests interspersed with alpine pastures; the protected Les Tenasses raised bog is also located there. The Veveyse formed the northern boundary of the former municipality, and the Ognona stream its southern boundary.

Pléiades: altitude and winter activities

The area of Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz extends up to the summit of the Pléiades. Its highest point is near La Châ, in the Pléiades massif, at 1,397 metres above sea level. There are snowshoe routes in the Les Pléiades area at Montbrion, Les Tenasses, Lally–Les Pléiades and Le Molard. Check snow conditions and access to the routes before your trip.

On the Pléiades, facilities operated in collaboration with the neighbouring municipality of Blonay offer families alpine and Nordic skiing in a compact ski area. Facilities and operating conditions may change seasonally. Check current operating conditions before making firm plans for skiing activities. Snowshoeing and skiing are different options; the route locations listed provide specific guidance when choosing a snowshoe tour.
