For Goumoens-le-Jux, a clearly described golf offering and the hilly Boucle des Gorges du Talent are two distinct points of interest. The hamlet’s location on the edge of the Talent Valley and its history, from early forms of its name to the merger of municipalities, add to the picture. This makes it easy to plan your stay around your own interests: golf, countryside or history.

Golf at Domaine du Brésil

The Golf Club Domaine du Brésil is located at Chemin du Brésil 4, 1376 Goumoëns-le-Jux. Its hilly 9-hole course has a par of 35, covers 33 hectares and is open daily. Check the latest visitor conditions before planning a game.

The golf academy offers another point of interest: its courses and workshops are open to visitors. Founded in 2003, the academy caters to adults and children. As programme availability may change, it is worth checking the current courses if a workshop is central to your visit.

The Golf Club Domaine du Brésil has been GEO-certified since 24 November 2022; the certification confirms its commitment to sustainability. If this feature influences your choice, check the current certification status. The Domaine du Brésil restaurant is open to the public and serves seasonal cuisine. As access and menus may change, check the latest conditions and menu before planning a restaurant visit.

A different perspective: the Boucle des Gorges du Talent

The Boucle des Gorges du Talent follows the Talent River and runs along hilly paths. It passes near Golf du Brésil in Goumoëns-le-Jux. This means a golf offering and a route with its own landscape and activity profile sit side by side, without either activity being a prerequisite for the other.

Good physical fitness is required for the Boucle. Anyone travelling by bicycle should allow for the possibility of having to push it on some sections. This is an important distinction when planning your trip: the route is defined not only by its scenery but also by its physical demands. As route conditions may change, check them before setting out.

Plateau and Talent Valley

Goumoens-le-Jux is a small hamlet on the plateau of the central Gros-de-Vaud, on the eastern edge of the Talent Valley in the Vaud Plateau. It lies at an altitude of about 585 metres above sea level. The landscape of the former municipality included part of the gently rolling Gros-de-Vaud plateau, the largely wooded Talent Valley and open farmland at higher elevations. This creates a contrast between the plateau and open fields on the one hand and the wooded valley on the other.

Local history through names and dates

Goumoens-le-Jux was first mentioned in 1447, when the name Gumoens lo Jux was used. During the Ancien Régime, the place was known as Le Craux. In 1764, Albrecht von Haller acquired the lordship of Goumoens-le-Jux. He adopted the name H. de Goumoens. These milestones provide a historical timeline that extends far beyond the present-day municipal structure.

A tower also features in the history of the place: it was demolished in 1475 at the beginning of the Burgundian Wars and was never rebuilt. A later turning point came with the merger on 1 July 2011. On that date, Goumoens-le-Jux, together with Éclagnens and Goumoens-la-Ville, became part of the new municipality of Goumoëns. The former place names, the history of the lordship and this merger are distinct chapters that help put the present-day name Goumoens-le-Jux into historical context.
