Eywald offers a range of reasons to stay: the outdoor swimming pool invites visitors to swim during the summer months, the Schwarzwasser Landscapes excursion leads through a moorland area in Eywald, and the Rüschegg-Eywald ski area offers winter sports. When planning your stay, it is worth keeping these different highlights in mind: swimming is a summer activity, while the slopes and seasonal offerings at the mountain lodge are part of winter.
Summer: Outdoor Swimming Pool and Tennis Club
The Eywald outdoor swimming pool is located at an altitude of 1,050 metres above sea level. The swimming pool and children’s pool are heated to 25–29°C using a solar system. Both the high-altitude location and the specifically stated temperature range are among the distinctive features of the swimming facilities. The outdoor swimming pool invites visitors to swim during the summer months.
The Eywald Rüschegg outdoor swimming pool is right next to the Eywald Tennis Club, which has two outdoor courts. If you plan to play tennis during your stay, confirm the participation requirements before your visit. This will help you sensibly include this possible activity in your plans.
Schwarzwasser Landscapes: Moorland, Forest and Water
The Schwarzwasser Landscapes excursion route passes through a moorland area in Eywald. The excursion invites you to discover striking landscapes that are now protected. In Eywald, it also illustrates the connections between forest and water. The focus of this activity is therefore not swimming or skiing, but discovering protected landscapes and how they are connected.
One route runs from Rüschegg/Heubach via Längeneybad-Eywald and back to Rüschegg/Heubach. This route gives you a clear starting point and return destination for planning. If you choose the tour, you can follow this route and allow time to enjoy the landscape and walk; no precise walking time is specified here.
Winter: Slopes and Berghaus Lischboden
The Rüschegg-Eywald ski area has 13 kilometres of slopes. Built in 1968, the Rüschegg ski lift is 2,263 metres long. The types of slopes mentioned include forest runs, fast carving pistes and varied runs for snow sports enthusiasts. When planning your ski day, you can choose according to your preferences among these different types of slope.
During the winter season, the ski area offers, among other things, a fondue evening with musical entertainment at Berghaus Lischboden. The programme may change; if this offer matters for your travel dates, check the current schedule. The mountain lodge has a sunny terrace with a spectacular view of the snow-covered Bernese Alps. The Lischboden mountain restaurant also invites you to eat and linger—a way to plan some time at the mountain restaurant in addition to the slopes.
Getting There and Getting Your Bearings
The ski area is accessible from Bern, Thun and Fribourg via well-maintained roads in about 30 minutes. There is a large free car park right by the Rüschegg ski lift. For the excursion route, however, public transport is recommended: the route is suitable for this, and you can travel to and from Rüschegg Heubach / Post by bus. The stated travel options therefore differ depending on the focus of your stay. Check current bus connections and trail conditions before setting off.
