Since 1990, Hova Riddarvecka has transformed parts of Hova into a medieval village for nine days every summer. In addition, trails, cultural history and an opportunity to get involved with apples and pears reveal other sides of the town.
Trails of different lengths
Hälsans stig is an accessible 3.5-kilometre circular trail in Hova. The Folkeberg Nature Reserve has a marked 1.6-kilometre circular hiking trail. The lengths of these two circular trails can be compared directly: the loop in Folkeberg is shorter than Hälsans stig.
Getryggen has marked running and exercise trails measuring 2.5, 3.1 and 5 kilometres. Getryggen Activity Park is located at the Movallen sports ground in Hova. A 20-kilometre mountain biking trail also runs around Hova; about 7 kilometres of it consist of firm, fine gravel. This gives you a choice of different formats: marked circular trails, running and exercise trails, and a longer mountain biking route.
Forest landscape and Bronze Age stone cairn
The Folkeberg Nature Reserve has the character of a primeval forest: fallen trees are left where they lie. The trees are about 170 years old, with some considerably older. The reserve’s forest is also home to a well-preserved Bronze Age stone cairn.
Cultural history and live concerts
The Hova Local Heritage Museum displays old agricultural items and household objects from different periods. Stikkan Andersson has a biographical connection to Hova: he was born there on 25 January 1931 and grew up in the small house on the market square called the Green House, which still stands in Hova today.
Varggropen at Värpemon near Hova is a restored wolf pit that was still in use in the 1850s. Rockfickan is a volunteer-run rock club in Hova, hosting live concerts throughout the year. The cultural offerings therefore also differ in when they take place: Riddarvecka is held every summer, while concerts at Rockfickan take place throughout the year. If you want to plan your trip around a specific event, check the dates.
Press your own apples and pears
At Hova Musteri, customers can bring their own apples and pears and press them themselves at the premises using the business’s equipment and expertise. Pressing is booked by phone by appointment. Hova Musteri also sells ready-made juice and other apple and pear products. This means you can choose between processing your own fruit by appointment and buying ready-made products.
