Water, trails, and routes of different lengths

Källby badplats swimming area has a sandy beach in the northwest and a large open grassy area. There is also a designated area for dogs to swim. Lake Vänern connects Källby closely with nature and water, and there is a small marina in the town.

Kinnekulle, with its hiking and cycling trails and many opportunities to enjoy nature, is easily accessible from Källby. The Kinnekulleleden, also called Kinnekulle vandringsled, is 48 kilometres long and classified as moderately difficult.

Two sections of the Biosfärleden associated with Källby are described. The Källby–Trolmen section starts at Källby station and ends in Trolmen on the Kinnekulle plateau mountain. After leaving the built-up area of Källby, it follows a fairly steep ascent. The Råda kyrka–Källby section is 19 kilometres long and ends at Källby station. Källby–Trolmen follows a fairly steep ascent; Råda kyrka–Källby is 19 kilometres long.

For activities right in Källby, Mistaskogen has a 2.0-kilometre illuminated fitness trail. An illuminated 1.6-kilometre ski trail is also designated in Källby.

Cultural history in the town

There are nine archaeological sites in total at Källby hallar. Källby kyrka dates from the later part of the 12th century and was built in the Romanesque style from sandstone. The church contains a sculpture of Mary with the Christ Child, carved from oak in the 15th century from a single piece of wood. The date of construction and the sculpture offer two distinct historical points of reference for the church.

The historic milling landscape at Sjökvarn also has a long history: its origins date to the late 17th century. Together with the church and archaeological sites, it offers another way to explore Källby and its surroundings from a cultural-historical perspective.

The railway has also shaped Källby. The old railway keeper’s cottage has been preserved beside the platform; the station building was demolished. Källby’s railway settlement illustrates the transformation of Swedish rural communities in connection with railway construction in the 20th century. Both preserved architectural history and the town’s transformation are therefore central here.
