A small swimming spot on Lake Vannasjön, trails of varying lengths and a clearly dated chapter of local history give Olsfors several possible points of interest. For planning, you can consider water, exercise and culture separately: by the lake, there is a swimming spot and an approximately 2 km circular trail; a green-and-white-marked 8 km route passes Vanna kvarn and an old feldspar quarry. This lets you choose not only by destination, but also by distance and interest in the sights along the way.

Water and trails

The small swimming spot on Lake Vannasjön is surrounded by forest, tall grass and reeds. It can be considered separately from a hike: an approximately 2 km trail goes around the lake. The bathing area is a specific place to swim, while the circular trail focuses on the route around the lake.

On the way to the swimming spot is the noteworthy Vanna kvarn. The green-and-white-marked 8 km route maintained by IK Omega also passes the mill. An old feldspar quarry can be found nearby, and the route also passes it. The 8 km route is considerably longer than the approximately 2 km circular trail. When choosing between the trails, you can therefore consider both the distance you want to cover and your interest in the mill and quarry.

There are three training trails at IK Omega’s club cabin: 8 km, 5 km and a 2.5 km route. The shortest is lit. The trails run over gravel and smaller forest paths. This identifies both the distances and the different surfaces; for the lit option, the 2.5 km distance is part of the description.

Getting oriented and history

There is parking at the starting point of the Omegastugan hiking trail in Olsfors. The Bråtes bro bus stop on Boråsvägen is just under 200 metres away. If you plan to use this stop for your journey, it is best to check the timetable in advance. These details provide a specific reference point for planning around the trailhead.

Olsfors kyrka also offers a distinct point of reference for local history: it was inaugurated in 1916 and extensively renovated in 1973. It was decommissioned on 14 April 2024. These dates distinguish the inauguration, renovation and subsequent change of use in chronological order. For culture-minded travellers, they provide a clear sequence of events with specific years and dates.

Another place in Olsfors is Skogsparken on Örelidsvägen. It adds a distinct local point of interest to the themes of water, trails and history. When choosing places to visit during your stay, you can therefore consider this park separately from the information about the swimming spot and walking trails.
