Everöd combines a historic church village with Tallskog pine forest to the north. Cycling routes run through the village, and flying and skydiving activities are offered at Kristianstad Österlen Airport. Travellers can therefore choose between different interests: heritage, nature, cycling or aviation. When planning your trip, you can focus on specific features: the dates of construction in the church village, the paths and flora in Tallskog, or the activities at the airport.

Tallskog: recreational paths and distinctive flora

Tallskog pine forest borders Everöd to the north; its unmarked network of paths is used by local residents for recreation. In the southeastern part of the forest, north of Everöd, lies a nature conservation fund area with valuable sandy steppe flora, including the steppe carnation (stäppnejlika). This brings two distinct aspects of nature to the fore: use of the path network and the plant life of the sandy steppe. Those with a particular interest in flora will find the stäppnejlika a specifically named feature of this area.

Church village and heritage

In Everöd’s church village, the prästgård, or vicarage, and the church stand close together. The vicarage consists of a red brick residential wing and timber-framed outbuildings. Together, they form a unified ensemble shaped by the early 19th century. The church was built much earlier, in the second half of the 12th century, from dressed grey stone.

The close proximity of the vicarage and church reflects an older tradition that probably dates back to the Middle Ages. Two distinct time periods are therefore important to understanding the history: the church’s construction date and the vicarage ensemble shaped by the early 19th century. The area around the church also belongs to Everöd-Lyngby, which the Kulturmiljöprogram för Skåne (Cultural Environment Programme for Skåne) has assessed as a particularly valuable cultural environment.

The written history of the village has its own date: Everöd outside Kristianstad was first mentioned in written sources in 1228, then under the name Æwærthe. The year marks the village’s first written mention; it adds another historical reference point to the information about its buildings.

Cycling routes through Everöd

The Kristianstad–Maglehem cycle route passes through Everöd and follows a former railway embankment. A 2007 Trafikverket study describes the route as mostly gravel-surfaced. Since this information about the surface dates from 2007, check the current surface and condition separately before setting out. The Stora Vattenriketrundan cycling route also passes through Everöd. The routes differ in the features described here: the former railway embankment is a feature of the route to Maglehem, while Stora Vattenriketrundan is identified as a route through Everöd.

Flight activities and getting there

At Kristianstad Österlen Airport in Everöd, Skånes Fallskärmsklubb offers tandem skydives and courses in solo skydiving. Kristianstads Flygklubb is based at the airport and offers pilot training, trips and recreational flights. The activities differ in type: skydives and courses are offered alongside the flying activities of the aero club. The availability of tandem skydives and courses may change; check before making specific plans.

To get to the airport, Skånetrafiken bus routes 3 and 4 stop on Road 19, about 500 metres from the airport building. The distance is approximate. Check the route and the location of the stop before travelling.
