Water and trails shape several sides of Ramkvilla. The Ramkvillarundan trail passes through varied terrain, with cultural landscapes and forests near Lakes Örken and Klockesjön. On the heights near Barkaryd and Lövås, it runs at around 300 metres above sea level; near Ramkvilla, it passes, among other places, the picturesque Skärbäcks canal.
Lake landscapes and trails
The trails offer different highlights. Stage HÖ10 of the Höglandsleden runs from Ramkvilla to Asa and follows Lake Klockesjön. The Smålandsleden and Sverigeleden also pass through Ramkvilla. By looking at the routes, you can choose between a described circular route through the landscape, a stage with named endpoints, and two trails that pass through the village.
Nature around Lake Klockesjön is another distinct aspect of the landscape. According to a 2005 assessment by Jönköping County Administrative Board, Lake Klockesjön has significant natural values and several rare species.
Swimming and golf
Klockesjöbadet has a floating jetty with a diving tower. There is also a volleyball court and a football pitch nearby. Another swimming option is Badet vid Klockesjön: its long, gently sloping beach is suitable even for the youngest children. The two descriptions offer different points to consider when planning: Klockesjöbadet is noted for its jetty and diving tower, while Badet vid Klockesjön is noted for its beach.
Ramkvilla Golfklubb has a full-length 9-hole parkland course with nine greens, 18 teeing areas and a par of 72. The course is located next to the church village and Lake Klockesjön. Golf can thus be considered as a focus in its own right, alongside activities on the water and the trails, without making it part of a fixed itinerary.
Local history and activities
Ramkvilla kyrka stands on the shore of Lake Klockesjön. A runestone from Ramkvilla is built into the church’s south wall at ground level. Both details give the village a cultural dimension distinct from its options for exercise and swimming.
Hörnebo skiffergruva is located near Ramkvilla. Slate was quarried there in the mid-19th century, mainly for roofing. Tours of the mine can be arranged by prior agreement with Ramkvilla hembygdsförening. If you are interested, you should therefore arrange your visit directly with the association.
Ramoa Äventyrsby is two kilometres from Ramkvilla. Bicycles, kayaks, canoes and boats are available to rent there. The activities also include football golf and a pentathlon with precision events such as air rifle shooting, axe throwing and archery. These activities make Ramoa another option if you would like to plan a specific leisure activity alongside trails, swimming spots or local history.
