A trip to Gnosjö can be shaped around three interests: industrial history, time on hiking trails and mountain biking routes, or relaxation in a warm-water pool. The industrial focus is especially tangible in two living industrial museums. For the routes, specific information about length, difficulty, and surface makes it easier to choose.
Industrial History in Motion
Hylténs Metallvarufabrik is located in Gåröström, Gnosjö, and is now a living industrial museum. In 2005, it was named Industrial Site of the Year by the Swedish Industrial Heritage Association. Its current status as a museum and a clearly dated award thus stand side by side.
Töllstorps Industrial Museum is also a living museum: the waterwheels are still turning, and it houses Gnosjö’s first automatic machine, dating from 1881. The two details highlight different aspects—a continuing movement and a precisely dated machine.
Traditional wire drawing is demonstrated during demonstrations. If you would particularly like to see this process, ask about the demonstration schedule before your visit. Once a year, the entire production line is put back into operation for Gjutarnatta. If you would like to include the event in your trip, check the event date.
Hiking Loops and Mountain Biking
The “Töllstorpasjön runt” loop is five or seven kilometers long, depending on whether you add the “Bergarundan.” The longer option adds two kilometers. This lets you choose the route length to suit your planned outing and decide whether to include the additional Bergarundan.
Töllstorps Recreation Area has several mountain biking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. Spolen is the easiest trail in the area; “Tråddragaren” is nine kilometers long, marked red, and hilly. This gives you different criteria to consider when choosing: difficulty for Spolen, and length and trail character for Tråddragaren. Markings and trail conditions can change; check the latest information before setting out.
Another option in Töllstorps Recreation Area is the Gnosjöslingan: a two-kilometer paved loop close to nature. Along with distance, the surface is a practical detail to consider when planning. Choosing between the loops therefore comes down to activity and distance: “Töllstorpasjön runt” offers a five- or seven-kilometer hike, while the Gnosjöslingan is considerably shorter at two kilometers and paved. The mountain biking trails offer a separate selection, with varying lengths and difficulty levels; “Tråddragaren” is also marked red and has a hilly character.
Warm-Water Pool
Töllstorps Rehab & Relax has a twelve-meter-long warm-water pool with a water temperature of 32°C. If the length or temperature is important for your plans, check the latest pool information before your visit, as facility specifications can change.
