El Perelló combines a long sandy beach with water sports, rice fields and a rich local history. When planning your visit, you can focus on different aspects: beach activities take centre stage at Playa, maritime activities are on offer at the canal and Portet, while the cycling route, nature watching and historic buildings reveal other sides of the town.

Beach and water

Playa El Perelló is 850 metres long and an average of 25 metres wide. Golden sand, moderate waves and shallow water define the beach. It is suitable for windsurfing, kitesurfing, kite flying, fishing and beach volleyball. Facilities and services include lifeguards, first aid, bathing assistance for people with disabilities, public toilets, sports facilities, walkways and children’s play areas. As visitor facilities may change seasonally, check the current conditions before your trip.

Club Náutico El Perelló is on the right bank of the canal connecting the sea with La Albufera. It has around fifty public moorings and is particularly suitable for leisure boats with a shallow draught. Confirm availability and operating conditions directly before using the nautical facilities. A sailing school and a ramp providing easy access to the water complete the offer. Courses and schedules may vary.

At Portet de El Perelló, you can take boat trips, rent traditional Albufera boats, go on guided or unguided kayak outings, or hire a bicycle and join a cycling tour. Check in advance which providers and activities are currently available. The options on the water vary, from a boat trip or kayaking to activities where you sail or paddle yourself.

Cycling and nature watching

The 14-kilometre Cicloruta al Filtre Verd is a circular route through the rice fields, El Perelló and the Filtre Verd. You can do the route independently or as a guided tour. If you are planning a guided tour, check availability with Sueca’s tourism services. The route’s length, circular shape and course provide a clear framework, while you can choose between going on your own and taking a guided tour.

The rice fields and wetlands offer a different focus from the beach and water sports. The birdwatching area in Sueca’s rice fields can be reached from El Perelló via the CV-500 towards Muntanyeta dels Sants. Access restrictions may apply during active hunting seasons. Estany de la Plana can be reached via the access road from El Perelló and is suitable for observing waterbirds. Birdwatching conditions vary by season; access restrictions also apply.

History by the water and in town

El Perelló lies entirely within La Albufera Natural Park. Water also shapes the history of Les Comportes: the structure was built in the 1920s or 1930s to regulate the water level in La Albufera. Before the Pasarela was built, Les Comportes was the most frequently used crossing for the residents of El Perelló and El Perellonet to cross the Pantano from one bank to the other. The 70-metre Pasarela connects the two towns. Portet de El Perelló, formerly known as Portet del Ravachol, was restored in 2011.

The town’s history is also reflected in two churches from different periods. Església Vella de Sant Pasqual Bailon was built at the end of the 19th century at the request of the summer visitors who came to El Perelló, and consecrated on 10 August 1898. It is dedicated to San Pascual Bailón, the town’s co-patron, and is classified as a Bien de Relevancia Local (BRL). Església Nova, built in the early 1960s, takes its form from a Valencian barraca; stained-glass windows surround the building.

Festivals and local identity

Fira de la Tomaca del Perelló is an annual festival celebrating the Tomaca del Perelló. The tomato is considered a symbol of the municipality’s identity and tradition. Fallas are also part of local festivities: the Poble Vell and Tró i Flama commissions are integrated into the Junta Local Fallera de Sueca. Fallas week includes the Plantá, Pasacalles, Ofrenda and Cremà; the programme may vary from year to year.

The programme for the Fiestas de la Purísima includes the procession of the Moros y Cristianos. The celebration in honour of the Virgen del Carmen includes a procession at sea departing from Club Náutico on the evening of 15 July. On 16 July, the image of the Virgen del Carmen is carried in a procession through El Perelló in the afternoon. The annual programme for these recurring festivities may also vary.

Getting there

Playa El Perelló can be reached via the CV-500; Metrobus line 190 and EMT line 25 are also listed as access options. Public transport routes and timetables may change. Check connections again before your trip.
