Urturi offers several distinct ways to shape your stay: the landscape of Izki Natural Park, a connection to local history, and mountain biking and golf. Before looking for accommodation, you can consider whether nature, culture or a sport should define your trip. The activities differ in format: a network of routes on the one hand, and a single golf course on the other.
Landscape and local history
Urturi lies in a gentle ravine at the foot of Izki Natural Park, beside Cerro La Torre and Alto de los Cerros. The natural park and these named heights give the area a distinct landscape setting.
The parish church of Santísima Trinidad in Urturi dates from the late 16th century. This historical reference adds a local cultural connection to the landscape. If history plays a role in your choice of destination, you can consider the church as a separate point of interest. This makes it possible to view Urturi not only in terms of sporting opportunities, but also through its local history.
Mountain biking at Centro BTT Izki
Centro BTT Izki comprises 15 mountain-bike routes covering a total of 506 kilometres. The total distance refers to the network of routes, not to a single ride. As the number of routes and overall distance may be revised, check the information before setting out. For your specific plans, the route you choose matters, not the length of the entire network.
The Centro BTT Izki reception point is at Campo de Golf de Urturi. Bicycle hire is available there, and booking in advance by phone is recommended. If you plan to hire a bike, bear this in mind and call ahead. This lets you include the hire in your preparations before choosing a route.
Golf and the southern approach
Campo de Urturi, part of the Izki Golf complex, is an 18-hole course with a par of 72, designed by Severiano Ballesteros. It was the first fully public 18-hole golf course built in Spain. These details give this golf option a clear profile. The difference from mountain biking is specific: here, the focus is on a named course with a set number of holes and a par rating; there, on a network of routes with several trails and a total distance. Consider which format better suits the activities you have planned for your stay.
The southern entrance to Izki Natural Park is via the A-2124 road (Vitoria–Logroño). At Ventas de Armentia, turn onto the A-126 towards Bernedo to approach Urturi. If you are travelling from this direction, check road conditions and access restrictions before setting out.
