Ardines can be explored from two very different perspectives: underground spaces with prehistoric rock art, and viewpoints overlooking the coast, river and green surroundings. This lets you plan culture and landscape as separate priorities, rather than treating every attraction the same way. The caves and the Centro de Arte Rupestre Tito Bustillo represent history and geology; the Miradores turn your gaze to the open landscape.

Caves, Rock Art and History

The Cueva de Tito Bustillo is located in the Ardines massif, in a karst complex near the mouth of the Sella. The Centro de Arte Rupestre Tito Bustillo provides an exhibition setting where you can view the CamarĂn de las Vulvas, the GalerĂa de los Caballos, the Antropomorfo and the Panel de los Policromos. The permanent exhibition also provides information about the discovery of the cave, its geological value, its former inhabitants and the preserved rock art. Unlike the viewpoints, the focus here is not on the panorama, but on understanding the cave and its rock art.

The Cueva de La Lloseta also contributes to this archaeological focus. It is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural and is located in the Ardines massif. A human skullcap was found in the cave and, based on analyses, was dated to the end of the Upper Palaeolithic. This dating refers to the find, not to the age of the cave.

The main chamber of the Cuevona de Ardines has a ceiling up to 40 metres high, with daylight entering through its natural opening. Access is via a staircase with 300 steps. Its status is important for your plans: as of 27 August 2026, the Cuevona was closed until further notice. Check the current status before planning a visit.

Massif, Views and Routes

The La Moría-Ardines recreation area is located in the Ardines uplands in Ribadesella, on a plateau-like rise in a distinctive geological landscape. The three Miradores de Ardines are in the Ardines massif and form part of the La Moría recreation area. They offer panoramic views of the coast, the Sella River and the green landscape around it. The coast, river and green surroundings are all in view together—a different perspective on Ardines from its caves and rock art.

The Miradores de Ardines route also gives you a clear way back: on the return journey, it passes through the village of Ardines and then follows Avenida de la Cueva de Tito Bustillo back to the centre of Ribadesella.

The Cueva del Tenis is high up on the Ardines massif and can be accessed from the Miradores de Ardines. As access conditions can change, check the latest access information before setting out.
