La Cimada combines a rural landscape with a specific wine tourism offering. Bodegas Morosanto offers a winery tour and a guided wine tasting; at the same time, hilly terrain and agricultural land shape the surrounding area. When choosing accommodation in La Cimada, it helps to first decide the purpose of your trip: will wine, landscape, or a cultural event shape your stay? The settlement can be reached via the MA-429 provincial road from the direction of Cádiz province and via the MA-428 from Ronda. Road conditions may change; check your route before travelling.

Rural Landscape and Agriculture

The area around La Cimada and Los Prados is hilly. Large grain fields alternate with dehesas of holm oaks. The area also has numerous irrigated gardens and olive groves, thanks to the water resources of the GuadalcobacĂn River. This describes a surrounding area with several types of agricultural use; the Morosanto estate has a clear focus on wine-growing. It covers around 30 hectares and is mainly used for wine-growing; olive trees and holm oaks also grow there. The landscape and the estate therefore offer different points of interest: on the one hand, the agriculturally shaped surroundings, and on the other, a specific winery with its own cultivation.

Bodegas Morosanto and Its History

Bodegas Morosanto is located in La Cimada on the former Cortijo Morosanto estate. The winery offers an enotourism visit with a winery tour and guided wine tasting. This provides a specific reason to visit alongside exploring the agriculturally shaped surroundings. The estate includes a Roman wine press that belonged to a slave villa dating from the 1st to the 5th century. This historical connection adds another time layer to the present-day focus on wine. Before making specific plans, it is advisable to check available dates for the tour and tasting.

Cruces de Mayo and Sevillanas

La Cimada’s traditional Cruces de Mayo celebrations are intended for residents and visitors of all ages. In 2026, the celebrations were scheduled for 15, 16, and 17 May. The programme included musical performances, folk activities, a mass, and a traditional procession; a paella was also planned for Saturday. These dates refer to 2026 and are not current dates for a future trip. If you would like to include cultural events in your plans, check the event dates for your travel period. Another cultural thread is the historic “Sevillanas de La Cimada”: in August 2021, plans were made to include them in the Audiovisual Encyclopedia of the Folklore of Málaga.

The timing of each item also matters when planning: the tour and tasting are currently offered, the Cruces dates refer to May 2026, and the inclusion of the Sevillanas was planned in 2021. These are different points of interest—a current winery offering, a past festival programme, and a historical plan relating to folklore. Check the available tour dates and event days separately for your travel period.
