Drašiči combines winegrowing with a clearly identified cultural heritage. The vineyards around the village provide grapes for white and red wines; there is also a signposted wine route, culinary experiences, and walking and cycling trails. This gives you several specific options to consider when choosing where to stay—from winegrowing and local food to a church in the village centre.
Vineyards and Cultural Heritage
The well-signposted wine route links the best-known vineyards around Drašiči. The Soseska zidanica Drašiči is listed as living Slovenian cultural heritage and is open to visitors. Here, the wine tradition is reflected both in the landscape of vineyards and in cultural heritage that visitors can experience. Dolc Wines 1834 offers wine tastings for smaller and larger groups.
Local Experiences and Flavours
The Drašiči Quest is a wine experience that explores the cultural heritage of Bela krajina, particularly its wine traditions, through riddles. This playful approach is paired with local food: the quest includes a platter of local cured meats and cheeses, and you can also bake traditional Bela krajina flatbread yourself. If you are more interested in how things are made than in solving riddles, consider a guided tour at Oljarna Pečarič. The process of cold-pressing is explained there, and Oljarna Pečarič also offers a tasting of 22 different oils.
On Foot or by Bike
The circular “Pohod po poteh Soseske zidanice Drašiči” route is 11.5 km long. Along the village wine house trail, walkers stop at several stations to taste fine wines and traditional homemade specialities prepared by local residents. In autumn, the residents of Drašiči organise a traditional walk along these trails on the first Saturday after St Martin’s Day. If you are planning your visit around the walk, we recommend checking the latest event dates.
Named cycling routes also pass through Drašiči. The 217-kilometre Obkolpski brevet passes through the village on its final section from Metlika to Semič. You can ride it as part of an organised event or independently. The “Vidošiči Cycle Route” also passes through Drašiči. For the Obkolpski brevet, you can choose between an organised event and riding independently; the “Vidošiči Cycle Route” also passes through Drašiči.
Churches in Drašiči and Vidošiči
The branch church of St Peter stands in the centre of Drašiči. Dating from 1773, it is opposite the Drašiči Village Vineyard Cottage. In nearby Vidošiči, the Church of St Anne stands on a hill above the village, surrounded by vineyards. It offers a lovely viewpoint all year round. The two churches offer different points of interest: St Peter is a historic landmark in the centre of Drašiči, while St Anne combines its hilltop location with a viewpoint in Vidošiči.
